When you see a press release like this, obviously one things comes to mind, “There was a season 1?” But yes, Comedy Bang! Bang! did have a first season (which I reviewed HERE) and now it has a second season arriving soon on DVD. This June everyone will be able to revel in the looney joy that comes from what host Scott Aukerman and musical, beat-boxing co-star Reggie Watts have to offer, as they bring on a multitude of guests, including Jessica Alba (Sin City), Aziz Ansari (“Parks and Recreation”), David Cross (“Arrested Development”), Zach Galifianakis (The Hangover), Bill Hader (“Saturday Night Live”), Anna Kendrick (Pitch Perfect), Pee-wee Herman (“Pee-wee’s Playhouse”), Andy Samberg (“Brooklyn Nine-Nine”) and many more! Continue on to learn about this upcoming release.

April is kind of a bummer month when it comes to Scream Factory titles. There’s only one title dropping and its not coming out until the tail end of the month (April 29th). No worries though, it’s only the calm before the storm that is the “Summer Of Fear”, which is HUGE and going to rock all horror fans’ socks off. For now, we have Dead Shadows. A completely independently funded film about a crazy little alien invasion. It’s directed by first timer David Cholewa and he’s a name you might want to take some interest in as he does show plenty of potential with his debut. The film came out in 2012, but is just now making its way here to the states in 2014. Before we begin, I need to give David Cholewa credit for using the song “Wax Ecstatic” by group from my alternative music days that has long been forgotten called Sponge. Bravo sir, I used to rock to that song plenty in my youthful days. Continue reading ‘Dead Shadows (Blu-ray Review)’

Knights of Badassdom is not so much of a good premise gone bad, as much as it just falls into the realm of instantly forgettable. The idea of putting LARP-ers (Live Action Role Players) into a very real scenario, where they must fend off actual fantasy beasts, is a solid one, but finding the right tone and having the right comedic energy is a requirement that extends beyond having a decent cast to try and make it work. When the Comic-Con panel is more entertaining than the actual movie, a problem really exists.

However your tastes in action-packed cinema run, BUSHIDO MAN: SEVEN DEADLY BATTLES has something for everyone. Incredibly choreographed fights encompassing seven different disciplines — stick, knife, sword, kung fu, nunchaku, firearm, and special weapons – make this the action movie of choice for summer viewing. Writer/Director Takanori Tsujimoto (Red Tears and Hard Revenge, Milly: Bloody Battle) reteams with renowned action choreographer Kensuke Sonomura (Resident Evil: Degeneration) and martial arts expert Mitsuki Koga for his best film to date.

Who’s ready for some kung fu action this summer? Well, Shout! Factory is! They’re bringing some classics from that golden era of the 70s to DVD this May! It even has some films featuring the work of legendary John Woo and Sammo Hung! I tend to really like these Movie Marathon packs that Shout! Factory puts out as they always seem to keep with a common theme for the movies and not just like they got some rights to movies and slapped them together “just because”. Maybe they are and its just dumb luck I’m finding common occurrences in them. Who knows? What I do know is that this DVD comes out on May 20th and you can pre-order it now so it’ll get there just before that lazy Saturday that is perfect for just popping it in and binging through all 4 films on it. Below you can find all the details provided from Shout! Factory. Continue reading ‘Check Out The Action-Packed MARTIAL ARTS MOVIE MARATHON On DVD May 20th!’

Academy Award nominees Andy Garcia (Ocean’s 11, City Island) and Vera Farmiga (A&E’s Bates Motel, Up in the Air) star as straight-laced, George and eccentric Edith, two strangers who meet on their children’s college tour at the idyllic Middleton University. Despite their opposing temperaments, George and Edith play hooky together, ditching the textbook tour for a carefree afternoon reminiscent of their youth. But what begins as an afternoon of fun soon becomes a revealing and enlightening experience that will change their lives forever. A light-hearted romance for adults on the surface, At Middleton is a deeply moving and enlightening portrait of the timelessness of romance and youth. Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story”), Spencer Lofranco (Jamesy Boy), Peter Reigert (“Dads”), and Tom Skerritt (“Picket Fences”) also star in this story about what can happen on your first day of college – no matter who you are – At Middleton. Three classic 80s comedies are finally strutting their way to Blu-ray at the beginning of May. And they all wouldn’t be complete without horribly photoshopped and updated covers! With the Norma Rae one last week and now these three, Fox looks to be making an art of terrible catalog title covers. JUST USE THE FREAKIN’ THEATRICAL POSTER (supplied at the very bottom)! How hard is that? This idea of looking hip to youngsters or trying to trick them into thinking their getting a modern film is tired. They’re not that stupid. They’re gonna know its an older movie. If they aren’t interested, they aren’t interested. Anywho! Everyone’s favorite film of all time Weekend At Bernie’s along with Bachelor Party and Revenge Of The Nerds are coming to Blu-ray. With good sales, this may mean that one of the greatest sequels of all time, Weekend At Bernie’s II is on the horizon. Or how about Mannequin? Below are the run down of the official specs, the plot summaries. Continue reading ‘Classics Comedies Celebrate Milestone Anniversaries On Blu-ray May 6th!’

In a parallel universe, World War One is imminent as we follow the gripping story of human resistance fighters who march to battle against the second invasion of the Martians. In 1899, the Earth was attacked by ruthless invaders from the planet Mars. After my last go around with Paranormal Activity 4 in 2012 after Gerard Iribe flipped me the disc, I swore myself off the franchise for good. I made ignorant comments such as I don’t care how long this franchise carries on, I want nothing to do with it, etc. When they announced the delay of the fifth film this past year from its lavish Halloween spot to a January play date, I just chuckled heavily. What movies play in January? A million arms raise high. I pick the loudest screaming one. The answer they all shout out unanimously is not very good ones. And then the unthinkable happened. Reports started flooding in on my RSS feeds saying low and behold, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones actually isn’t that bad and that revered writers praised it for reinvigorating their interest in the franchise and further installments. Say whaaat?! Continue reading ‘Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones (Blu-ray Review)’

Hulk Hogan was a mega star in the (then) World Wrestling Federation (WWF). He was one of those “larger than life” personalities. His presence got a whole generation into pro wrestling for at least a good while. Personally, I even went and saw him live once. I was young and didn’t see how fake it was and my dad to this day says watching me there was one of the greatest things he’d ever seen when I watched Hulkster battle Mr. Perfect. The WWF wrestlers even had a cartoon back in the day. The one thing Hulk Hogan didn’t really cross over to well like his popularity heir The Rock would now dominate, was becoming a big action movie star. And to his defense, the era he tried to break into was already overloaded with action heroes. But, it should be said, he did open the door for wrestlers to try their hand at mainstream film. Hogan’s biggest numbers would wind up being a pair of family comedies that played on his abilities ironically (Mr. Nanny and Suburban Commando). The Blu-ray we’re reviewing today, No Holds Barred (turning 25 years old this year), was his shot at maybe becoming the next big action star. Continue reading ‘No Holds Barred (Blu-ray Review)’

Here we are once again. It’s the same place we were last year. It’s spring time so it must be coincidentally time for the newest entry in The Lord of the Rings (LOTR) saga…err I mean The Hobbit saga on Blu-ray. And low and behold…IT IS! How about I make a promise to you from the get go? My review below will not be as long as every LOTR infused butt numbing experience you ever had. No sir! Or no ma’am! This isn’t an Extended Edition anyway. I promise to keep my babbling to a minimum, but just in case let’s get a move on it. I tend to fib and we have lots to discuss here. We have a dragon to slay, elves, dwarves and orcs to feud with and possibly even a certain hobbit to toast. Ladies and gentlemen…this is second installment in the three-part film series set to conclude with There and Back Again this summer…may I introduce The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug…on Blu-ray. Disclaimer: This opening paragraphs consists of all original thoughts, phrases and ideas. Admittedly so, I missed this one in theaters. I got lazy. I never showed up. I even lost the free movie cash we had to see this one. Boo! However, I was still curious to see where this second and supposedly final film in the franchise took our favorite anchorman as when we last left Ron Burgundy it seemed that Veronica Corningstone and he were living happily ever after. Could turmoil have boiled up in the bask of their afterglow? Was Baxter the dog alright? What happened to the other guys? These and many more are questions I was hoping to find answers for as I finally got the chance to snuggle up with Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues on the home media format of choice, Blu-ray. Sabotage is a nasty little thriller from writer/director David Ayer (Training Day, End of Watch), which stars Arnold Schwarzenegger in another leading action movie role, following his term as Governor. The film is getting its share of notice for having a plot that feels akin to an Agatha Christie-styled whodunit, as it revolves around Arnold’s team of DEA agents being murdered one by one. It is just too bad that this whodunit has all the intelligence of the script for I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Sabotage is a big waste of talent, resources, and time.

Walking With Dinosaurs was a pretty big disappointment for Fox this past winter. The $80 million budgeted film only took back $36 million in the United States. When added, the overseas totals take it to $125.5 million overall. But, Fox claims that the intake globally is still very lackluster. The film featured computer generated dinosaurs in live action filmed locations. It was originally intended to be a realistic approach just following dinosaurs around but later on it was decided that they should even more “kid friendly” the film and add some voice overs and try to enrich the story with them. What they wound up with was a film that both audiences and critics agreed wasn’t very good at all. So I guess it is with great caution that I venture into this prehistoric tale on my own.
