I found out about this HBO and IDW Publishing title about a month ago and I could not be more excited about it. Yep, that’s right folks…the True Blood comic book series! I don’t think I even need any fancy schmancy introduction to tell you how excited fans of the show must be over this news. The six-issue series kicks off in July. It debuts at the San Diego Comic-Con. Yeah! Check out the first issue cover art and small press release below. Continue reading ‘True Blood’s Inky Debut @ Comic-Con 2010′

Rob Zombie… oh were do thou find the time? We reported on this not so long ago, but since we are nearing the release date I wanted to drop a little plug for Zombie’s upcoming comic book debut of Baron Von Shock hitting retail shelves everywhere on May 26th. This may be the first comic book I’m ever excited for in a very long time. Can you tell I’m not a regular comic reader? Is it really that obvious? LOL. The Zombster has taken to the blog boards recent providing his fans with some preview pages of the upcoming comic. Continue reading ‘Rob Zombie’s ‘Baron Von Shock’ Comic Preview’

Here’s a title I owe it to myself to see. I have heard so many good things about it. Gregg Senko gave an excellent review of it here and I have heard from many people how it was just as funny as last year’s The Hangover (although I don’t see how that could be possible), as long as you remember and can laugh along with the 80’s. So needless to say, my curiosity is peaked at an all-time high! Continue reading ‘Soak in Blu-ray’s Hot Tub Time Machine’

I’m kind of sad to be reporting this news. It seems my boy Sylvester Stallone won’t be doing a Rambo 5 after all. It’s a shame, but I can be understanding too. Surprised? Yeah, so am I. After the way Rambo 4 ended, it kind of seemed weird that he would return for another adventure. But I won’t complain if he did. Anyway, Rambo 4 ended in a series finale-like fashion, so I guess we all have our happy ending. Right? Continue reading ‘Stallone Says Rambo V Won’t Happen :-(‘

I came across this article Saturday morning while getting ready to head out to Los Angeles and I smirkingly found it hilarious. I remember standing in line at Best Buy on April 22nd when I bought the infamous Avatar Blu-ray and the cashier told me that I need to do a firmware update so it plays okay. I smiled and said “You mean on all five of my players?” She laughed. Low and behold I went home that night and popped it into my Playstation 3 and Panny players and no firmware updates were required. It played fine. Continue reading ‘Some ‘Avatar’ Fans Struggle With Blu-Ray’

Say what you want about the young actress. Love her or hate her. There’s no denying her sexual appeal and just the mention of her name in a flick will have young teenage boys drooling in the ticket line and rushing to the theater on June 18th to see Jonah Hex. Whether the comic book film sucks or not, there’s always Megan (below) in that promiscuous outfit of hers. Continue reading ‘Megan Fox and Her ‘Jonah Hex’ Costume’

Here’s a title I have never heard of before in my life, but I can’t say that I am not intrigued. After all, it has Kathleen Robertson in it. I do fondly remember her from her days on Beverly Hills 90210. And then there’s the quirky Zooey Deschanel, Richard Dreyfuss and more. So you can’t say this movie doesn’t have its stars. Hmm. I actually think I want to see it. Nonetheless, I’ll get my opportunity very soon when Vivendi Entertainment brings the Tin Man to the Blu-ray format on July 20th. Continue reading ‘The ‘Tin Man’ Follows The Blu-ray Road’

What if, one day, someone like Superman did a one-eighty, totally dissatisfied with society and those whom he thought were friends? What if he became so disillusioned with humanity and their bouts of ungratefulness that he abandoned his cause for the better of man? Boom! Studios did exactly that with their release of Irredeemable; a story about a super-human being known as the Plutonian whose initial intentions lie in the heroic, but fall to the demented. Continue reading ‘Irredeemable Dark, Destructive & Entertaining’

In some ways, reviewing a classic is great, but in others, it can be a curse. On one hand, you get the opportunity for an early viewing and to think critically about a title that has been revered over the last century. The fact that this particular classic stars Obi-Wan doesn’t hurt either. On the other, it’s a challenge to find a way to add something to the discussion if a 45-year-old movie. I mean, what hasn’t already been said? Continue reading ‘Doctor Zhivago (Blu-ray Review)’

It’s official! At least according to Warner Bros. that is. And I guess that’s all that truly matters. Right? Late last week, Warner Bros. broke the news that the follow-up to Christopher Nolan’s 2008 Blockbuster The Dark Knight will hit the theaters on July 20, 2012. That’s a long time to wait. I know. But I am optimistic. Nolan needed time to deal with Heath’s untimely demise and to get Inception out of his blood. Continue reading ‘Nolan’s ‘Batman 3’ Gets an Official Release Date!’

Disney found success in 2009 with its nature documentary, earth. Disney decided to revisit this genre this past Earth Day (4/22), bringing us Oceans, an aquatic documentary narrated by Mr. Class himself, Pierce Brosnan. As an admirer of nature and the many mysteries it has to offer, I was immediately intrigued when I first came across the movie poster in the midst of another bitter Midwest winter. The time is ticking down as we approach yet another national Free Comic Book Day. What is it, you might ask? Exactly what the name states. Well, let’s clarify that. You don’t get to walk off with just anything off the shelf. Publishers from the big players such as Marvel and DC all the way through the smaller press release a barrage of titles specifically meant for the first Saturday in May. Continue reading ‘Free Comic Book Day! May 1st’

THE CONTROVERSIAL PREQUELS AND SEQUELS AND HOW HATERS, APOLOGISTS AND FANS HAVE GONE THEIR OWN WAYS… In the interest of full disclosure, Star Wars is the movie that sparked my love of movies and because of that; I’ve wanted to be a director for as long as I can remember. That feeling was solidified when I saw The Empire Strikes Back, which is possibly my favorite movie of all time, except for the days I prefer Raiders of the Lost Ark. After going through months of anticipation for this film, it has finally arrived. I almost did a double-take when I first learned A Nightmare on Elm Street was to get a reboot. Produced in part by Michael Bay (who also co-produced the remake of Friday the 13th) and directed by Samuel Bayer, the film joins a growing line of movies that Hollywood feels the need to remake. Now let’s get straight to the point. Continue reading ‘Gregg Has A Nightmare on Elm Street’

Ron Howard is one of those directors who I consider “hit and miss.” For every one or two great films that he puts out, he’ll follow up with something awful like that wasted effort “The Missing.” Of course, it wasn’t always like that. Following the success of “Splash,” Ron decided to tackle some science fiction. Cocoon was the name of the film. 25 years after its theatrical release, does it still hold up top scrutiny? Read on, and see for yourself. Continue reading ‘Cocoon (Blu-ray Review)’

The Clash of the Titans will make its High-Definition debut this July. That’s a long to time to wait to see Gemma Arterton again, but I’m sure I’ll live. Speaking of Gemma, it gives me a reason to post yet another picture of her on the site. Yea! Of course, Clash of Titans also stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson and Ralph Fiennes. The Warner Brothers’ mythical adventure will battle the Blu-ray format on July 27th. The original 1981 film is already available on Blu-ray and if you missed it, you can check out the full review of it here. Continue reading ‘Blu-ray Battles with the ‘Clash of the Titans’’

I found this story/video first posted on Facebook. Being huge Rob Zombie fans around here, it only feels natural to share the following video with all our readers who we hope are also big Rob Zombie fans (come on…you know you are…you’re never too old). Anyway, Rob returns to the 2010 scene more sinister than ever. Is that even possible? Hell yeah! I’m a believer. Check out his new video from the first day of the “Gruesome Twosome” Tour that he is currently on with none other than music’s legendary madman Alice Cooper.
