Before anyone goes bad mouthing this comedy I just wanted to go on record by saying it wasn’t that bad. I think Death at a Funeral had me laughing harder than this one did, but considering what we have to work with so far this year, Cop Out stands out amongst the best of the comedy genre selections in 2010 (see my full review here), IMO of course. Well with that being said, Warner Home Video has announced a July 20th Blu-ray release date for Cop Out: Rock Out With Your Glock Out Edition. I thought this was a pretty cool article/press release I received from my friends over at Spike TV and I thought it would fit in nicely here on the site and maybe…just maybe…it would even provoke a little bit of conversation/debate on the subject. Who needs another Hollywood super hero sequel when there are so many superheroes out there who deserve a chance on the big screen? Check out Geoff Shakespeare’s entertaining article below. I hope you have fun with it. I did! Continue reading ’10 Coolest Comic Book Heroes Who Need A Movie’

Since we just posted a Blu-ray review of the title (here), I figured it was my civil duty to announce that Paramount Home Entertainment will be issuing a recall of the Saving Private Ryan Sapphire Series Blu-ray disc. Special thanks to our writer Sean Ferguson for sending me the press release. All the information you need to act upon is provided in the press release below. The replacement product will be made available Tuesday, May 18th. Continue reading ‘Paramount Recalling ‘Saving Private Ryan’ Blu-ray’

When Elektra, a spin-off from 2003’s Daredevil, was first announced so many years ago my heart filled with overwhelming anticipation. Back then; I guess you could say I had a small crush on Jennifer Garner. She was, after all, in prime physical form for her hit TV series Alias, not to mention that sexy vixen outfit that adorned her promiscuous curves opposite Ben Affleck in 2003’s Daredevil. So I guess you could say that I was looking forward to seeing her fill that uniform once again and kick some ninja clan a$$. Continue reading ‘Elektra: Director’s Cut (Blu-ray Review)’

Our love for the Starz show Spartacus: Blood and Sand knows no boundaries around here. So it comes with great enthusiasm that I share with you all the latest press release I just received from the Starz network. I’m so excited about this news that I don’t even know where to begin, but I’ll try my best. Production on a six-part prequel will begin this summer. The prequel will feature Andy Whitfield appearing in two episodes along with Lucy Lawless, John Hannah, Peter Mensah plus other returning and new characters. Continue reading ‘JUST ANNOUNCED! In late July of 1998, the greatest war film of all time was released in theaters. Of course, a statement like that is filled with opinion, but in all honesty, is there truly a more gripping, more accurate war film than Saving Private Ryan? Arguments can be made for different represented eras, such as great films like Gettysburg and Full Metal Jacket, though the research, training, and authenticity that went into Spielberg’s World War II story was mind-blowing and likely unparalleled. Dr. Heiter (Dieter Laser) is a retired German surgeon who used to specialize in separating Siamese twins. But retirement can get boring, so it’s good to have a hobby. Dr. Heiter’s hobby is trying to surgically connect three people together, mouth to anus. Why would anyone want to do this? I don’t know. Why were Bela Lugosi and George Zucco always trying to transplant human brains into the bodies of gorillas in those poverty row horror flicks from the thirties? Continue reading ‘The Human Centipede’

In 2008, Iron Man was released to an audience that wasn’t very familiar with the character and with a lead actor that had a history of personal demons that never allowed him to achieve the success his talent deserved. It turned out to be an explosive combination that raked in over $535 million worldwide. By taking the risk of giving Downey Jr. the role of a lifetime in Tony Stark, Director Jon Favreau pulled off a an amazing success story for both the movie and for Downey Jr. personally. Robert Downey Jr. returns as the now considerably more famous Tony Stark, in the sequel to the movie that made Iron Man more popular then he had ever been before. This action adventure boasts a terrific cast including Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mickey Rourke, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell and Samuel L. Jackson. It is directed by Jon Favreau. Alexx Calise spent her childhood, like most great artists, buried alone in the pages of a notebook and finding comfort in her parents’ diverse and influential record collection. Around age 11, she showed her first sign of musical brilliance as she picked up a guitar and instantly began formulating melodies with the poetry she had already written in her head. Here’s where we usually say “..and the rest is history.” But wait! Not so fast! Continue reading ‘Alexx Calise – In Avanti (CD Review)’

It seems like only yesterday when I reported the speculation that the Rambo Extended Cut Blu-ray would be coming soon. I never knew I would be reporting this so quick, but Lionsgate Home Entertainment has just announced a July 27th release date. The extended cut will feature 9 minutes of extra footage and nearly 90 minutes of newly created bonus materials. Sylvester Stallone fans around the world…REJOICE! I found out about this HBO and IDW Publishing title about a month ago and I could not be more excited about it. Yep, that’s right folks…the True Blood comic book series! I don’t think I even need any fancy schmancy introduction to tell you how excited fans of the show must be over this news. The six-issue series kicks off in July. It debuts at the San Diego Comic-Con. Yeah! Check out the first issue cover art and small press release below. Continue reading ‘True Blood’s Inky Debut @ Comic-Con 2010′

Rob Zombie… oh were do thou find the time? We reported on this not so long ago, but since we are nearing the release date I wanted to drop a little plug for Zombie’s upcoming comic book debut of Baron Von Shock hitting retail shelves everywhere on May 26th. This may be the first comic book I’m ever excited for in a very long time. Can you tell I’m not a regular comic reader? Is it really that obvious? LOL. The Zombster has taken to the blog boards recent providing his fans with some preview pages of the upcoming comic. Continue reading ‘Rob Zombie’s ‘Baron Von Shock’ Comic Preview’

Here’s a title I owe it to myself to see. I have heard so many good things about it. Gregg Senko gave an excellent review of it here and I have heard from many people how it was just as funny as last year’s The Hangover (although I don’t see how that could be possible), as long as you remember and can laugh along with the 80’s. So needless to say, my curiosity is peaked at an all-time high! Continue reading ‘Soak in Blu-ray’s Hot Tub Time Machine’

I’m kind of sad to be reporting this news. It seems my boy Sylvester Stallone won’t be doing a Rambo 5 after all. It’s a shame, but I can be understanding too. Surprised? Yeah, so am I. After the way Rambo 4 ended, it kind of seemed weird that he would return for another adventure. But I won’t complain if he did. Anyway, Rambo 4 ended in a series finale-like fashion, so I guess we all have our happy ending. Right? Continue reading ‘Stallone Says Rambo V Won’t Happen :-(‘

I came across this article Saturday morning while getting ready to head out to Los Angeles and I smirkingly found it hilarious. I remember standing in line at Best Buy on April 22nd when I bought the infamous Avatar Blu-ray and the cashier told me that I need to do a firmware update so it plays okay. I smiled and said “You mean on all five of my players?” She laughed. Low and behold I went home that night and popped it into my Playstation 3 and Panny players and no firmware updates were required. It played fine. Continue reading ‘Some ‘Avatar’ Fans Struggle With Blu-Ray’

Say what you want about the young actress. Love her or hate her. There’s no denying her sexual appeal and just the mention of her name in a flick will have young teenage boys drooling in the ticket line and rushing to the theater on June 18th to see Jonah Hex. Whether the comic book film sucks or not, there’s always Megan (below) in that promiscuous outfit of hers. Continue reading ‘Megan Fox and Her ‘Jonah Hex’ Costume’

Here’s a title I have never heard of before in my life, but I can’t say that I am not intrigued. After all, it has Kathleen Robertson in it. I do fondly remember her from her days on Beverly Hills 90210. And then there’s the quirky Zooey Deschanel, Richard Dreyfuss and more. So you can’t say this movie doesn’t have its stars. Hmm. I actually think I want to see it. Nonetheless, I’ll get my opportunity very soon when Vivendi Entertainment brings the Tin Man to the Blu-ray format on July 20th.
