True Blood: Season 1 Blu-ray Updates!

Updates!  So soon you ask?  That is correct…when it comes to vampires I don’t waste any time in reporting the latest and greatest in news.  The cover art for True Blood: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray has been released.  As stated before, the Blu-ray set is up for pre-order on Amazon and I am pretty sure the price will probably drop just a bit before its May 19th release date.  Either way it will be mine!  I do one erroneous report I need to clarify.  Last week I stated the HD audio track would be a Dolby TrueHD surround track.  I was wrong about that.  The HD audio track will be a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio surround track.

There’s Something Blu About Mary…

There’s Something About Mary is an all-time favorite comedy of mine that I have been wanting on the Blu-ray format for years now.  This title was actually my first DVD purchase ever and I could not be happier by the latest news of There’s Something About Mary being announced for the Blu-ray format.  Fox Home Entertainment has list a May 5th Blu-ray release date for the Ben Stiller/Cameron Diaz comedy hit.  We will see a 1080P AVC MPEG-4 video encode presented in a 2.35:1 aspect ratio.  This will be accompanied by a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 surround track.  Continue reading ‘There’s Something Blu About Mary…’

The Spirit Appears on Blu-ray This April

Like it or hate it…The Spirit is coming!  The much criticized Frank Miller production has been given a Blu-ray release date.  Lionsgate announced an April 14th date for the Blu-ray and DVD release of The SpiritThe Spirit had quite the all-star cast, including the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes and many more, but ultimately it was a box-office flop.  Nonetheless, I am still excited for this Blu-ray release as I let out a few chuckles here and there throughout the film.  We have not received the official press release from Lionsgate as of yet, but all we know thus far is to expect a 1080P AVC MPEG-4 video transfer with a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 surround mix.

The Fast and The Furious Races On Blu-ray March 24th

Just announced today…exactly what Hi-Def “gearheads” have been waiting for…the release of The Fast and the Furious trilogy on the Blu-ray format.  Universal has just announced that The Fast and the Furious trilogy will makes its racing debut on the Blu-ray format March 24th.  That is less than two weeks before Universal releases the fourth film in the theatres.  Unfortunately, it is an all or nothing deal where you have to buy the box set to get any of the movies on Blu-ray.  Universal is offering $7.50 in movie cash towards the purchase of a ticket to see the fourth film in the theatre.  Now how can you pass that up?  It is a rhetorical question, obviously.  Each film will be presented in 1080P with a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix.  Continue reading ‘The Fast and The Furious Races On Blu-ray March 24th’

King Kong Day

What?  You did not know today was “King Kong Day?”  Why yes it is!  The wait is over for Blu-ray enthusiasts.  Peter Jackson’s King Kong is released on the Blu-ray format today!  While I have my reservations about this movie, there is no denying that this title is pure reference demo material.  The audio and video (minus a few special effects shots here and there) are flawless.  Check out your favorite reviewer’s take on the Hi-Def classic over at Into The Blu.  Although I really hate seeing the big ape take the plunge in the end I don’t think any Blu-ray collection is complete without this title.  Check out the review and let me know what you think by leaving some comments over at Into The Blu!
