Super Troopers 2 (Blu-ray Review)

Recent years have given rise to many sequels and reboots to films and even TV series from years ago. Super Troopers 2 is something that’s been talked about plenty for years but never came to fruition. Much of that was due to the first film being more of a home video/cult favorite than a worthy cinematic endeavor. That said, thanks to crowdfunding and the never-ending spirit of the Broken Lizard comedy team, the sequel was made and even succeeded as far as box office was concerned. But how about the movie? Was it a long-awaited disappointment, or a new, fun chapter for this team of Vermont Highway Patrolmen?

‘Mission: Impossible Fallout’ Is ‘The Dark Knight’ Of The Franchise (Movie Review)

Mission Impossible Fallout Movie Review Having been revisiting the Mission: Impossible franchise as of late on the 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format (our reviews here, here, here, here and my favorite one here) I was pumped to take in the latest one dubbed Fallout.  My giddy excitement for this latest installment was further fueled by the early reports of reviewer peers of mine lucky enough to live on the West Coast have hailed this as one of the best action films of all-time.  That says a lot when you can make a bold statement like that.  In the olden days we would have said you have big you know what to make such a declaration, but we’re so politically correct nowadays I just have to digress for the best and safest results.  So without further ado ladies and gentlemen I give to you Mission: Impossible Fallout. A Matter of Life and Death – The Criterion Collection (Blu-ray Review)

I was happy to put together my first write-up about an Ingmar Bergman film, and now I’ve had the chance to write at some length about a terrific film from Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger. A Matter of Life and Death is finally debuting on The Criterion Collection Blu-ray, and it does not disappoint. Heralded as one of the best British films ever made, the 1946 fantasy-romance has had a significant impact on cinematic storytelling, influencing so many filmmakers in the decades since its original release. Now, everyone can have access to this restored feature that looks and sounds extraordinary and features an excellent set of supplemental material.

Someone’s Watching Me! (Blu-ray Review)

Long considered to be the lost film of John Carpenter, his 1978 film Someone’s Watching Me is making the leap to Blu-ray 40 years later from Scream Factory. If you’re keeping track at home (Following last night’s announcement of Starman), they have now put out 14 of the films he has directed. Including his 2 Masters of Horror episodes, that leaves them with 9 titles to go. What would be really neat, is if they put out a Blu-ray collecting his short films that most people have never seen (Including “Captain Voyeur”). This TV film, while considered forgotten, includes many important stepping stones in his career happened prior to when many people have thought they did. Someone’s Watching Me! did have a release date change, now becoming available August 7th. Pre-order using the Amazon link provided following the review, below. ‘The Equalizer 2’ Delivers More of The Same R-Rated Brand of Vigilante Justice (Movie Review)

The Equalizer 2 Movie ReviewThe Equalizer 2 brings warm feelings to my heart much like how Jar Jar Binks felt seeing Padme again in Episode 2.  Words cannot describe how overjoyed I am not only seeing The Equalizer 2, but the fact that it was even made in the first place.  The critics were pretty split on the first one, but as you can see here that wasn’t the case with yours truly.  I flipping loved everything about it!  I just thought the meh word of mouth on the first one would have killed any chance of a sequel much like everyone ruined things for the Justice League.  Whoah I just immediately went there, huh?  Strong accusations.  Ha ha.  I’m sorry and I digress.  Let’s get back on topic.  Perhaps the only thing I instantly don’t like about The Equalizer 2 is the movie title itself.  I mean how long did they spend thinking about that name?  What’s the third one going to be called?  The Equalizer 3?  Ha ha!  Nevertheless, retired CIA Agent Robert McCall is back and I couldn’t be happier about that.  Let’s chat! Review: The Devil’s Doorway

The Devil's DoorwayMagdalene asylums or “laundries” were originally designed by Christian Churches in Britain and the Unites States as a place to assist “fallen women.” In Ireland, these laundries came under the Catholic Church, and before long, there were over a dozen, spread out. These places soon became a ghoulish prison for these women, being put to work in harsh environments, abused both physically and emotionally. These places housed prostitutes, women who were pregnant out of wedlock (or through sexual abuse), and orphans. From the beginning in 1922 to the end in 1996, it is though that around 10,000 women were housed there in Ireland under the whip of the nuns. Those who left often had no idea who they were nor where to find any sort of family. It is within these walls that Aislinn Clarke sets her found footage film The Devil’s Doorway.
