While I’m holding up the home front here in Austin, TX while my peers are living it up at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 today in Hall H, videos like this that Warner Bros. just released online make it a good time to be alive. After all, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is my favorite film of the year so far as indicated here and here. So why the heck shouldn’t I be happy with our first look at the Wonder Woman trailer? That’s a rhetorical question. I’m flippin’ ecstatic! Every team needs a woman who can lasso, somewhat fly, never die and um…look good doing it all. Excuse me while I go change my pants once again. Ha ha!!! Continue reading ‘It’s A Great Time to Be Alive Part 2: Wonder Woman Trailer at Comic-Con!’

Yesterday the gods shined down on Comic-Con fans as STARZ released the first live action trailer of Starz American Gods during the series’ debut Comic-Con panel. Also, making a very special appearance was Kristin Chenoweth who graced the stage as it was announced she will star in the role of Easter. Once known as Ostara, goddess of spring, Easter still embraces the jelly beans and chocolate bunnies associated with the holiday that bears her name, in an effort to stay relevant. Check out the trailer down below and read all about the Comic-Con 2016 event! Continue reading ‘Starz ‘American Gods’ Give San Diego Comic-Con 2016 A Spring Awakening!’

As a I perusing the Comic Con floor and happened across the set costumes from Supergirl, The Flash and Arrow! The CW is really crushing when it comes to their super-hero shows! I’ve never really been a fan Flash when it came to the comics. But after watching this series which starts the magnificent Grant Gustin, I have officially become a true believer and devote follower of “The Speed Force”! The fact that they’ve even ATTEMPTED to make a show that focuses on Green Arrow is something that should be applauded in and of itself. He’s basically Batman with a bow and arrow. The second of two Comic-Con Hall H panels focused on The Walking Dead universe tool place on Friday, following what fans saw at the Fear the Walking Dead panel. Of course, many were far more excited about getting a look at the upcoming season of The Walking Dead, with the continuation of the Negan storyline, the introduction of The Kingdom and King Ezekiel, and of course a foll0w-up to who was killed by Negan’s barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat at the end of last season. The cast and crew were on hand, despite being very secretive about the upcoming season, but the first trailer for season 7 certainly set things up right.

Chris Hardwick hosts Dreamworks‘ Trolls Panel featuring directors Mike Mitchel and Walt Dorn and the stars of the film Anna Kendrick and Justin Timberlake. You might remember the directors from their work on the Shrek films. They explain how they took on the responsibility of creating the world and origin of the Trolls. A task that they were all too delighted to take on. Based on the two clips they showed, you can tell that this isn’t just a studio’s attempt to cash in on a popular toy of the past. That they wanted to make a real honest to goodness story. And as cliched as it sounds, this really is the kind of movie that both kids AND adults can have fun with. It has plenty of action and adventure for the kids plus the comedy is deftly written that it actually had me laughing in way I usually reserve for movie Judd Apatow movies!

This review is going to be a challenge for me. You see, I’m not the world’s biggest Watchmen fan by any means. The limited comic series of the same name bores me. I also know how devastating that must be to read in the third sentence of a review. However, let the record show, I’ve always been a fan of Zack Snyder’s movie adaptation of the property. After all, it’s what paved the way for Rated-R superhero flicks like Kick-Ass or this year’s Deadpool to even exist. How can you not love it? It ingeniously integrates three classic genres into one cohesive, albeit long film. Those of course are science fiction, superhero and what movie aficionados would brand as noir mystery. Luckily for me, and for all you fans out there, Warner Bros. brought this big, bold adventure to the brand-new HD format, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray. I can’t be anymore excited about it! I’m ready to begin here! Continue reading ‘Watchmen: The Ultimate Cut (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)’

Still feeling somewhat misty-eyed and romantic it seemed right to turn to the Brits this week for a cinematic story about beauty that keeps past foreign film relations rolling – welcome to Forgotten Friday Flick! Today we’re celebrating the magnificence of women with a movie that captures the female essence in all its glory. And while it does feature some exposing of the female form in the name of artistry, strength and spirit are fully present as well. Ladies and gentleman the film that both myself and Mr. Skin put on our Top Ten Films of 2007 (for very different reasons of course!)…Cashback!

Jhonen Vasquez directed a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles short and if you haven’t seen it your missing out on perhaps the funniest six minutes of animation I’ve seen in a long time. I’m really hoping this will evolve into something beyond a single short but for now this is the best Invader Zim fans could hope for. Continue reading ‘TMNT Don Vs Raph (Comic-Con 2016)’

From Butch Hartman, the creative mind behind Fairly Odd Parents and Danny Phantom, comes Bunsen is a Beast. A fun, zanny cartoon show revolving around young boy named Mikey and his new friend Bunsen. In Bunsen’s world beasts are an everyday reality but largely looked upon with fear or disdian. And all poor Bunsen wants to do is fit in. Hilarity ensues as Bunsen makes unlikely friends and unwitting enemies. Continue reading ‘Bunsen is a Beast! (Comic-Con 2016)’

Who knew the Sphero remote control BB-8 could get any better? It still is controlled by the smartphone app, but it now has the look of battle to it. The days of happiness are over for our friend. His exterior isn’t as polished as it once was. Oh yes, he has some stories to tell. He’s seen sights that are so horrible he can’t even get all the beeps out. It’s okay though, cause he’s still adorable. Who cares that he’s emotionally scarred?!?

We might not be seeing any Rogue One footage, but the Star Wars booth did have some costumes displayed for your viewing pleasure. While most are ones we’ve already seen, there is a new creature that’s new, at least to me.

This new series of Star Trek films should ideally have been my gateway into getting a better feel for the series. The J.J. Abrams films were not without merit, but even with a changing of hands to director Justin Lin, I seem to still be largely unmoved by what this franchise has to offer. The spectacle is certainly there, the cast is strong and an emphasis on adventure keeps things fairly lighthearted, but as Star Trek Beyond came to it conclusion, I feel like I am just going to have to be resigned to entertaining the existence of these films more than I actually enjoy them.

Last year, the DC Booth had some pretty amazing costumes and props they displayed for Batman v Superman. This year, I was really hoping they would have some things for Justice League. No luck, although they did share some fancy outfits from Wonder Woman. Unlike the Suicide Squad toys, there really aren’t any spoilers here.
