Had it not been for 2008’s The Dark Knight I would be passed out right now from the news of the OFFICAL Fight Club Blu-ray announcement. Up until July 2008, Fight Club has always been my #1 go to movie for all my needs. For some people this film is more than a movie, its a way of life. For all us 30-somethings, this movie opened up our minds to all the things we were missing out or neglecting in life. Well besides it being my Birthday (I made it o the point of no return…35), there is a lot of entertainmnet biz news going on today. We’ll get to the Blu-ray related news soon enough. First up, the major news of the day, I believe, is the fact that Marvel Entertainment was bought by Disney. How shocking is that? If that’s not enough, a third Halloween movie was also announced. Continue reading ‘The Daily Blu…August 31, 2009’

After viewing Halloween II last night, The Final Destination 3D was like a breath of fresh air. It was like much needed oxygen to my constricted blood vessels in my brain that have been suffocating from choking paralysis since last night. If I knew it was going to be that easy to get the bad taste of Halloween II out of my mouth, then I would have went to my local multiplex first thing this morning. First on our list is a report from Dreamworks that they will bring the Tim Allen comedy Galaxy Quest to the Blu-ray format on November 17th. There’s only a couple of items to go over today. FIrst being, is a big HBO announcement. They announced that they will release The Sopranos: The Complete First Season on Blu-ray November 24th. There’s already an Amazon pre-order up for that set with a pretty good price too. Next up, we have an announcement from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment stating that they will bring the teen comedy to Blu-ray on Novemeber 3rd, day-and-date with that less significant format, DVD. This is going to be a short one, I promise. There’s not much going on today in the world of Blu-ray. I only have one thing on my plate to discuss. Warner Brothers has announced a 1 week delay for the Blu-ray releases of Heat, The Negotiator and Logan’s Run. Originally scheduled for November 3rd, they have all been pushed back to November 10th, with no reason at all. How rude! In other news, did you hear the latest rumor about Megan Fox? Continue reading ‘The Daily Blu…August 26th, 2009’

When word got out that a new Batman game was on the horizon, ears perked. When screen shots were released, jaws dropped. Game developer Eidos brings us Batman: Arkham Asylum to the Playstation 3. I have to admit, I was kind of leery. I played the demo at an EB Games store a couple months back and to be honest, I was disappointed. Then the craziest thing happened. Last week a demo was released on the Playstation store (for free of course). Continue reading ‘Gregg’s Can’t-Miss Batman: Arkham Asylum Playstation 3 Game Review’

Keep in mind that the following information is only rumor/speculative, but we have good reason to believe that the #1 grossing R-rated comedy The Hangover will be released on Blu-ray somewhere around the second week of December, as we learned Warner Home Video in the UK announced a December 7th retail date. We can only hope so as this is one of our favorite movies of the year. The UK Blu-ray will feature a 107-minute extended unrated cut, as well as the theatrical version and a digital copy (boo!).

I need to play catch up already this Monday with some news that broke last Friday. MGM makes Hi-Def boxing fans’ dreams come true with their announcement to bring Rocky: The Undisputed Collection to Blu-ray November 3rd. I wonder what this means for the majority of us fans who already own parts 1 & 6? Paramount announced plans to make it a “Blu” Christmas with their holiday classic It’s A Wonderful Life coming to the Blu-ray format on November 3rd. It seems that they will include both the colorized and the B&W versions of the film. Continue reading ‘The Daily Blu…August 24, 2009’

Well to conclude a whirlwind week of Blu-ray news I only have two topics of discussion today. First up, Magnolia has announced that they will bring the 2008 BBC film Is Anybody There? to the Blu-ray format on November 17th. The film stars everyone’s favorite, Michael Caine. The last item on the agenda refers to an email I got from Amazon today. It seems that another New Line title has been delayed in September. The release date for 2003’s The Texas Cahinsaw Massacre Blu-ray has been pushed back to September 29th. Continue reading ‘The Daily Blu…August 21, 2009’
