The Angry Birds Movie is not something I woke up on Friday thinking wow I can’t wait to watch this one in 4K Blu-ray. No way! I came home from a hard day of work and found the latest Blu-ray care package on my doorstep that day. I immediately proceeded to rip the Sony Pictures Home Entertainment package open. I knew I was receiving The Angry Birds Movie for my reviewer, Brandon Peters, but what I didn’t know was that it was the 4K Blu-ray Combo Pack that pretty much contains everything under the kitchen sink. I’m not kidding you about that. I’ll talk a little more about everything you’ll find within here down below in the Extras section. Continue reading ‘The Angry Birds Movie (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)’

Lucy was one of those in-home viewing experiences you can’t take back. It was a religious experience, one of the best of my life. After being slightly disappointed by the quality of my sci-fi fave Oblivion on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray (review here) and the story in The Huntsman: Winter’s War (4K review forthcoming) I thought Universal was a lost cause with their first-ever 4K Blu-ray offerings. They were 0 for 2 in my book going into tonight. I was almost ready to give up hope until Lucy came along. I wasn’t instantly a huge fan of the 2014 feature, but over the past couple years I have fondly come to enjoy it. However, that all changed tonight. I now L-O-V-E it! Lucy was the much-needed 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray viewing experience I have been waiting for. It W-O-W-ed me like none other, but I digress. I’m getting ahead of myself here. In recent years I have found myself at odds with viewing numerous period dramas about famous white people overcoming adversity and Meryl Streep performances where she plays the role very ‘big’. This is why it is nice to say that Florence Foster Jenkins is pretty darn delightful. Stephen Frears must have had real philomania for this story of a New York heiress known for her poor singing skills, as he has crafted a film that really finds heart in such a goofy story.

So many indies, so little time! I’m opting out of the crowded Sausage Party this week to attend a smaller, more intimate gathering featuring some new film friends. My fellow WhySoBlu cohort Aaron Neuwirth already covered all things Anthropoid (via my favorite Cashback director Sean Ellis!), so I’m adding a little determined dad, paranormal ghost hunting and fashion dangers (amongst other things!) to the mix for maximum movie mayhem. Check out the Encapsulated Movie Reviews of the new feature films Blood Father, Abortion: Stories Women Tell, Ghost Team, The Model and the short Nanoblood below!
