Marvel Animated Features premieres two all new action-packed films together on one Blu-ray. Hulk vs. Wolverine takes place in Canada where Wolverine is called upon to stop the big green guy from his path of destruction that he is on. Hulk vs. Thor pits gods against monsters, as Thor faces one of his greatest challenges and hopes to triumph over The Hulk.
Lionsgate will bring the action of Hulk Vs. onto the Blu-ray format January 27th. The Blu-ray will feature a 1080P transfer with 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio sound. Lionsgate’s My Best Friend’s Girl comes to the Blu-ray format this January in both Rated and Unrated versions. You can bring the outrageous comedy home on January 6th. My Best Friend’s Wedding stars Kate Hudson, Alec Baldwin, Dane Cook and Jason Biggs from the legendary American Pie franchise.
The film tells the story of an unlucky lover who hires his best friend to take his ex on horrible dates so she will run back into his arms. The Blu-ray Disc features hilarious bonus materials including audio commentaries, behind-the-scenes featurettes, deleted and extended scenes, a gag reel and more. Believe the hype ladies and gentlemen… “We are tonight’s entertainment…” proclaims the Joker. The sales reports are in and here is the official word from Warner Bros. The Blu-ray release of The Dark Knight sold approximately 600,000 copies in the US, Canada and UK this past Tuesday the 9th. This single day accomplishment buries the previous record holder Iron Man, which sold near 250,000 units on the first day of release. It took Iron Man a whole week to reach the 400,000 mark. I am not sure which new Blu-ray release, until the likes of Star Wars hits the format, can ever topple The Dark Knight’s stampede on the record chart. We knew this day was coming. This is a victory for us Blu-ray fans across the globe. With numbers like these and greater numbers of Blu-ray adopters it won’t be long until we turn the tides on DVD sales.

We have another reminder from Lionsgate about their upcoming Blu-ray release of Disaster Movie Unrated on January 6th. Disaster Movie takes aim at everything from Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Iron Man. Disaster Movie stars Matt Lanter, Vanessa Minnillo, Gary Johnson, Nicole Parker, Crista Flanagan, Kim Kardashian, Ike Barinholtz, Carmen Electra and Tony Cox. The Blu-ray also features MOLOG, an exclusive Lionsgate BD-Live application that allows users to insert and animate shapes, text, audio and other graphics right into the film. They can also post blogs about the film to share with other registered users.

Lionsgate wants us to remind Blu-ray fans of the explosive and violent world of Bangkok Dangerous coming to the Blu-ray format January 6th. Bangkok Dangerous is an adrenaline-charged action thriller starring Nicolas Cage as anonymous assassin that travels to Thailand to complete a series of contract killings. Things become a bit complicated for him once in Thailand.

Sony Pictures has just announced that they will release their first person point of view horror movie Quarantine on the Blu-ray format February 17th. There are a few treats in store for fans of the movie. Extras will include audio commentary and three feturettes: “Locked In: The Making of Quarantine,” “Anatomy of a Stunt,” and “Dressing the Infected: Robert Hall’s Make-Up Design.” For those of you who crave the nitty gritty technical specs we have those to share with you as well. We will see a 1080P AVC MPEG-4 video transfer with a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track.
Quarantine grossed over $30 million domestically at the box office this past fall. Quarantine follows a new reporter around as she covers an assignment on the fire departmnet who just happened to get a 911 call that night. What happens next is kept behind lock and key. Enter if you dare!

Fresh off the press today we just got word of Adult Swim’s first ever High-Definition release on the Blu-ray format. The Venture Bros. Season 3 will be released on Blu-ray March 24, 2009. The 3rd season will come complete with all 13 uncensored episodes and special bonus features too.
The Venture Bros. is an American animated television show airing as part of Adult Swim on television’s Cartoon Network. It follows the adventures of two teenage boys, their emotionally insecure, ethically challenged super-scientist father and their secret agent family bodyguard.

From the producers of Saw comes a futuristic and ambitious rock opera to the Blu-ray format. Lionsgate has announced the will debut Darren Lynn Bousman’s Repo! The Genetic Rock Opera on Blu-ray January 20th. The release will see a BD-50 dual layer presentation with a 1080P AVC MPEG-4 video transfer and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 7.1 surround track.
The following supplements have been announced for the Blu-ray disc: 2 audio commentaries, 4 featurettes (“From Stage to Screen,” “Zydrate Anatomy: Amber Sweet: Addicted to the Knife,” “Chase the Morning: Blind Mag: The Voice of GeneCo” and “Legal Assassin: A Repo Man”), select scene audio commentaries (which includes Paris Hilton), deleted scenes and video sing-alongs. Warner Home Video has revealed the BD-Live features that will be included on the The Dark Knight Blu-ray scheduled to hit shelves next week, December 9th.
The first feature will be a “Live Community Screening” where users will be able to watch the movie with friends and chat with each other during the screening of it. It is going to be a very busy day for Blu-ray fans on Tuesday, January 20th. In addition to the other high profile releases that day Lionsgate has just announced the newest chapter in the Saw horror franchise will be released on January 20th. Saw V will arrive on the Blu-ray format and given the 1080P treatment. The full press release from Lionsgate can be found below.
Saw V scared up abut $55 million at the box office this past October. Saw V has put the Saw series in the #1 spot for the most profitable horror franchise ever. That is quite an achievement for a film franchise that has been churning out a movie every year for the past 5 years.

Clive Barker fans rejoice! Get ready to ride The Midnight Meat Train on Blu-ray next February. Lionsgate Home ENtertainment has announced that they will bring the Clive Barker horror film to the Blu-ray format on February 17th. The Blu-ray release will be presented in a director’s cut with a 1080P AVC MPEG-4 video encode and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack.
During this past Halloween, on Time Warner Cable on Demand, they were actually screening the HD edited version of The Midnight Meat Train for free. You will never look at the subway the same way after seeing this film. There has only been a trio of extras announced thus far. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment will bring the Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis shoot ’em up film Max Payne to the Blu-ray format on January 20th. Max Payne is based on the best selling video game of the same name. Max Payne will come to Blu-ray in an unrated edition. While technical details have not been provided at this time we are sure to expect a 1080P AVC encode and the typical DTS-HD Master Audio treatment from Fox.
Extras that are known, as of right now, include audio commentary, a BonusView PIP track, BD-Live connectivity, deleted scenes, documentaries, and many more. A full press release should be released any day now.
Max Payne grossed about $40 million domestically.

Paramount has just announced they will bring the Shia LeBeouf and Michelle Monaghan thriller, Eagle Eye, to the Blu-ray format on December 28th. You heard us right…Sunday, December 28th.
Eagle Eye was directed by D.J. Caruso. This was D.J. Caruso’s and Shia’s second outing together. Eagle Eye grossed near $100 million dollars domestically during its theatrical run and was met with mixed cirtical reviews. Most found the movie to be overly preposterous.
Paramount has not announced any extras or technical specs as of yet. A full press release is expected within the next week.

Jason Bourne is finally coming home! This is the announcement Hi-Def Bourne fans have been anxiously waiting for. Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring all three Bourne movies to the Blu-ray format as a single box set entitled The Bourne Trilogy Collection, on January 27th. Just to reiterate….that is The Bourne Identity, The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum. All three titles have been previously released on the now defunct HD DVD format and Blu-ray fans have been on the sidelines waiting a long time for this announcement to finally come. We almost thought Universal had amnesia there for a moment. We were all like…where’s Jason Bourne? The only thing Universal owes us now is The Fast and the Furious trilogy. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has announced that they will bring the Rainn Wilson comedy The Rocker to the Blu-ray format next year, January 27th. It will come to the Blu-ray format with hours of bonus fatures and a Digital Copy that will be compatible with all your favorite portable devices.
The Blu-ray will come on a BD-50 disc and will be presented in a 1080P AVC video encode, with a 1.85:1 aspect ratio. The audio cut of choice will be a 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio surround track.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment recently announced that 2006 remake of The Pink Panther, which will arrive on the Blu-ray format next year, January 20th. The coveted role of Inspector Clouseau is played by legendary funny-man Steve Martin. Much unlike the unexpected nature of Inspector Clouseau’s character, Sony has taken away the guess work over the Blu-ray disc’s final specs.
The Blu-ray release will feature a 1.85:1 aspect ratio and a 1080P AVC video encode. The audio track of choice will be a 5.1 Dolby True HD soundtrack.
