I Spit On Your Grave – Limited Edition (Blu-ray Review)

Oddly, I Spit On Your Grave has gone from notorious cult horror film of the late 1970s to a full blown franchise film series in the last decade. It sat alone for 3 decades, but a 2010 remake wound up spawning 2 sequels. And then recently, the original director and star made a “true” sequel to the original. Five bloody, vengeful films now stand with the I Spit On Your Grave license. Ronin Flix is taking the original film and the most recent sequel and packaging them together with a brand new loaded limited edition that includes the documentary Growing Up With I Spit On Your Grave. There are new transfers and bonus features, including commentaries with the loveable, legendary Joe Bob Briggs. There are various bells in whistles (Video provided in the review) that come along with it as well. This new I Spit On Your Grave comes as an exclusive to the Ronin Flix website. A link below will take you there to order yourself this very fancy limited set.

1956 Musical THE COURT JESTER Debuts On Paramount Presents Blu-ray January 26th!

The hilariously zany classic THE COURT JESTER celebrates its 65th anniversary with a brand-new Blu-ray in the Paramount Presents line, debuting January 26, 2021 from Paramount Home Entertainment. Originally released in 1956, THE COURT JESTER was shot in Paramount’s trademark “VistaVision” widescreen format, capturing a grander scope of information on the film negative. For this new restoration, the original negative was scanned at 6K and one of the “separation masters” was also scanned and recombined with the negative scans to address color fading in the negative.  The result is an incredibly vibrant picture that faithfully captures the colors and textures of Edith Head’s sensational costumes and Hal Pariera’s sparkling art direction. ‘Watch Dogs’ Third Time’s The Hack (Video Game Review)

We’re about to pass the twilight of this console generation, but while Watch Dogs: Legion is the third entry in Ubisoft’s AAA series, it’s the first to feel like a full-fledged exploration of the hacker code. 2014’s Watch Dogs, like most firsts in the Ubisoft IP, was more proof-of-concept than a robust experience. Six years, later Legion succeeds by allowing players to hack the planet, er, London (there’s even a trophy named after the 1995 film). And not just by any means necessary but by any person we choose. Let the unf&%#ing of London begin….

V For Vendetta (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

Remember, remember the fifth of November. Warner Bros is also asking you this year to also remember, remember the third of November. That’s when they are releasing the very popular V For Vendetta onto 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray for the first time. The Natalie Portman-starring, Wachowski-produced adaptation of the popular graphic novel is getting a nice upgrade to a native 4K picture quality and dynamic Atmos sound. They’re not stopping there, as three new bonus features are being brought to home video for the first time. You get a new sit down conversation with producer Lana Wachowski and director James McTeigue, Natalie Portman’s audition tape and a vintage making of feature from around the time the film came out. There are also different editions of this release, but this review covers the standard one. V for Vendetta on 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray is available now and can be ordered using the paid Amazon Associates link below.

Antebellum (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

I really wanted to see Antebellum when it came out, but I wasn’t frisky enough to head to the drive-in and the price tag on the rental for something I knew I’d probably be reviewing in a few short months was a bit high. Nonetheless, here it is and on a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray disc release nonetheless. Good things really come to those who wait. Lionsgate releases the film on November 3rd and its a surprisingly loaded with some quality bonus material (Feature length documentary) and Atmos sound. If you’re going to take it in at home, this is quite the way to be able to do so. The film has proven quite divisive, but trusted colleagues of mine have been on the minority end of it and loved the movie, so I’m optimistic going in. How’d it turn out? Well, you don’t usually find that out in the intro paragraph, but you’re not far from knowing. Its out now, and you can pre-order yourself a copy of this 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray edition of Antebellum by clicking the paid Amazon link following the review.

Brandon’s Blu-ray Wishlist For 2021!

That time of year is upon us again, as we take a look at films that have still yet to arrive on Blu-ray in the year 2020. Looking ahead to next year, there are STILL so many terrific and worthy films of the format upgrade. Things seem to be shifting too, and we are in a spot where the home video landscape is pushing more toward the collector than ever before. Aside from Disney, the studios seems to be recalibrating their efforts in bringing more titles and better versions of those titles to our players. Paramount especially has been active this year with both its Paramount Presents label and just getting some stuff the hell out regardless (IE: The Two Jakes, Private Parts). The independent studios are getting the reigns on bigger titles and the studios themselves are putting in a bit better effort. Sony is killing it with polling collectors for the Columbia Classics line which hopefully becomes an annual set. I ask those who cry out to proclaim the death of physical media regularly, then why am I increasingly happier and happier year in and year out? Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection (4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Review)Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection is going to be one very unorthodox 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Review.  You want to know why?  I hope you do as I didn’t just set that up for nothing.  It’s simply because this one whopping big box set that houses a total of 33 Discs (23 BD-100s, 7 BD-66s, 3 BD-50s).  Wow!  That encompasses all 8 seasons of the hit HBO show that plays across 73 episodes, which equates to roughly 75 hours.  If that’s not enough, there’s also 15 hours of extras packed within this set.  Now do you know why I say this isn’t your average 4K Disc review?  I hope so.  And rest assured I’m going to do my best to cover everything you’ll find here, but I’m only a mere mortal.  You’ll have to forgive me as I’m not going to be able to go through all of this.  Thankfully I have covered every Blu-ray release of the show so there’s that and I’ll be providing you pertinent URL links to all the coverage so you won’t miss a beat here.  On top of it all you can also bank on my unboxing photos.  I told you I have you covered!
