Trap (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

M. Night Shyamalan has attempted since his earlier films to create stories that we haven’t seen before.Even if the premise is like something we’ve seen, the film is almost always unique. This includes films that aren’t necessarily that great, and some really incredible films.  Where does Trap lie in his filmography? How unique is the setup of a serial killer seeking escape in the middle of a huge concert? Find out now, and don’t forget to check out recent reviews for The Sixth Sense and Signs too!

Blink Twice (Blu-ray Review)

I was immediately intrigued about the premise of Blink Twice when the publicity for the film began.  The movie offered a psychological thriller, something that has been missing from cinemas a lot of the time recently.  Zoë Kravitz in her first film as director took an ambitious story and ran with it.  Read more about the Naomi Ackie and Channing Tatum led film and see if the film is worth a watch on Blu-ray!

Signs (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

After The Sixth Sense, I believe that Signs may be M. Night Shyamalan’s biggest success to date.  The creepy aliens-on-earth story struck similar emotional chords at The Sixth Sense did and gave Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix some excellent moments of acting. Now the film is 22 years old, so I wonder – Does the film have the same impact that it did in 2002? Read more about Signs in the review and in case you missed it, check out our review of The Sixth Sense HERE.

White Christmas (70th Anniversary 4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

The first film released in VistaVision and a HUGE spectacle in 1954, White Christmas is undoubtedly a staple in many film fans’ holiday viewing queue. For me, White Christmas started as the movie my mother would show us to make us nod off on Christmas Eve and now is the one I can’t wait to watch as soon as Thanksgiving ends.  Now celebrating 70 years, the film has made its way to 4K UHD thanks to Paramount Home Entertainment. Read more on my love of the film below as well as the excellent 4K presentation too!

All of the movie anniversaries that have happened this year have been a bit shocking to me on a surface level.  25 years here. 40 years there. Really? Time truly does fly! Borderlands (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

By no means am I a video game afficionado.  I can honestly say the last game I played was Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on a PSII that I HAD to have.  I had other games, but I only ever played this one. I wasn’t very good at the game and my attention span for gaming had never been the best.  Despite my distaste for gaming, I still am easily aware of video games and Borderlands is a series of games that I know of.  Don’t ask me anything about it though, but the title, I know for sure! All kidding aside, I was intrigued when Eli Roth’s film adaptation was announced. With a huge cast of recognizable talent and what seemed like a nice sized budget to make something big and fun for the spring, I was immediately ensconced when I saw the negative press and the abysmal box office returns.  Read more about the film below and what happens to be a reference grade 4K Blu-ray!

Deadpool & Wolverine (Cinematic Universe Edition) (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

I don’t know about you, but I really missed Wolverine.  I missed that gruff, hard, yet lovable X-man! I was in tears when he met his fate at the end of Logan and thought that was that.  When the worlds of Deadpool and Wolverine were to collide in the appropriately titled Deadpool & Wolverine, I was ready to run to the nearest theater to see the film.  And then I didn’t.  Now, arriving home with a lovely DOLBY VISION 4K UHD Blu-ray from Disney/Sony, I have been able to witness the chaotic wonder of the film.  Read about that and more below and be sure to click whichever cover art you want at the end to get your copy today!

In A Violent Nature: Collector’s Edition (Blu-ray Review)

The prospect of a slasher film told primarily from the killer’s perspective was intriguing. Hearing about In A Violent Nature, the reactions some have had, particularly to some of the kill scenes, let alone the assumed divisiveness given the pacing, had me geared up to take this high concept in and enjoy it. Fortunately, there’s a lot to like about what writer/director Chris Nash is going for. On top of that, this is a pretty stellar release from IFC Films and Shudder, complete with a solid transfer and tons of extras.

Addams Family Values (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

Nostalgia abounds when I watch movies from my childhood. The Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values are a lot of fun.  Macabre and dark but still somehow light and comforting, the films work so well even 30+ years after their release. The 2021 4K release of the first Addams film was wonderful and then collectors waited to see when the second film would receive its inevitable release.  Now just in time for Halloween we get it! Read more about the creepy, kooky, ooky family’s second adventure below and as always, the cover art is clickable and takes you to Amazon to get your own copy!

Thanksgiving (4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook Review)

Depending on your tastes you either love or hate Eli Roth films.  He’s made some that have held up well. Horror fans love Hostel. He’s also delivered a very underrated family film with The House With the Clock In Its Walls. There are some questionable movies there too.  An unnecessary remake, Death Wish (I liked it but I know it’s not very good) and a recent video game adaptation, Borderlands, which for better or worse was an immediate failure. Before this, we got Thanksgiving, which was equal parts scary and funny and now celebrates it’s first year since release with a new 4K UHD Blu-ray, which comes in a great new steelbook! Fans will know all about the film, but for those new to it, read on below! Continue reading ‘Thanksgiving (4K UHD Blu-ray Steelbook Review)’

The West Wing (Complete Series) (Blu-ray Review)

Aaron Sorkin struck lightning in a bottle when he created the beloved series The West Wing. Fast paced, bitingly funny and surprisingly touching, the show was a universal hit for its seven seasons.  A few ebbs and flows in the seasons after Sorkin left, the show still stood strong until its end in 2006. Now celebrating 25 years, the show has its complete series on Blu-ray! Read more below and don’t forget to click the cover art at the end to order your own copy of the set!

Friends: The Complete Series (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

Friends The Complete Series (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)Friends is a television show that needs no introduction, but since this is a review I am under an obligation to do so.  Here goes nothing.  Let me clear my throat err I mean flex my ever aging typing fingers.  Friends aired for 10 seasons between September 22, 1994 to May 6, 2004 and yielded a whopping 236 broadcasted episodes.  Friends is often noted as a timeless sitcom, but in all honesty it would probably be blasted in today’s culture for its lack of diversity.  However, I digress as that’s a road I don’t even want to go down here.  So let’s just stick to the facts.  And here they are…okay they are all down below.  Follow me down there. Kinds of Kindness (Blu-ray Review)

The general sense of weirdness that persists in Yorgos Lanthimos’ films certainly keeps me going, but it’s understandably not for everyone. Kinds of Kindness may be the “one for me” film the director gets to make on a smaller scale, compared to the just-as-odd but more accessible comic fantasy epic, Poor Things, but it continues to show how much the director has evolved. With this anthology film, Lanthimos is entirely in control of how he can deliver the dark delights presented in this movie. It may not have been much of a breakout arthouse film, but it’s got plenty going for it. Now, the film has an HD home release, which may or may not feel like a dare for some to check out.

Longlegs (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

It gets tiring to say it’s been a good year for horror when the statement holds true for many years in a row. This year has offered a variety of solid chilling movies, from remakes to originals, but there were few films I was more excited for in this genre than Longlegs. With a director I’ve been a fan of, a premise that seems familiar but rewarding in its own right, and the mystery box that was Nicolas Cage’s presence in this film, I was geared up for something unique. The serial killer thriller not only delivered but also intrigued audiences. This past summer, the film was a surprise hit at the box office, grossing over $100, becoming Neon’s biggest film in the process. Now it’s available on 4K UHD Blu-ray, so many can keep following the clues at home.

A Nightmare On Elm Street (40th Anniversary 4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

40 Years is just a trip to even say when I think of A Nightmare On Elm Street.  The film was a source of fear for me as a child and even now fully wears its icon status proudly. One of a select few horror films to be in the Library of Congress and rightly so, we are now receiving a 40th Anniversary 4K edition of the classic film!
