Well, we’ve been waiting what seems like forever for this moment since it was made “official” not too long ago. This is our second and a meatier look at STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, the seventh film in the official Star Wars saga. It was unveiled today at Celebration, the big time Star Wars convention. People will clamor for “more, more” but do we need much else to sell us on what will likely be one of the biggest films of the year (And who knows, all time?). This is an exciting year to be a Star Wars fan as new canon material continues to flow in and will step up its game even more in the fall. For what its worth, I’m really loving the Marvel comics line covering a lot of ground between Star Wars and The Empire Strikes back. Anywho, lets get to this darn trailer. Here’s one that I am still curious about, despite what I have heard: Image Entertainment, an RLJ Entertainment brand, brings you THE COBBLER. Directed by Tom McCarthy, the film has an all-star cast including Adam Sandler (Click, Grown Ups 2), Steve Buscemi (HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”), Cliff “Method Man” Smith (The Sitter) and Ellen Barkin (Oceans Thirteen). In the film, Max Simkin has had enough of working in his little New York shoe repair shop where he quietly envies people with more interesting lives. So when he discovers an old family heirloom with the magical ability to change his appearance and transform into any of his customers, the temptation is too good to pass up. However, his newfound ability to become someone else proves to be as troublesome as it is fun. The Cobbler comes to Blu-ray on May 12th. Continue on to learn more.

Focus is one of those films I initially saw trailers for on television and thought to myself nah I’ll skip it. It just didn’t look that appealing to me. Than came all the reviews like Aaron Neuwirth’s positive coverage here. And so because of all the positive praise this film has garnered, sign me up! I want to see it! Thankfully I have less than 2 months to wait now and Warner Bros. officially announced a June 2nd Blu-ray release date for the Will Smith vehicle, Focus. As anticipation builds for the December release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the first new film in the Star Wars Saga in a decade, The Walt Disney Studios, Lucasfilm Ltd., and 20th Century Fox today announced the upcoming release of The Star Wars Digital Movie Collection. For the first time ever, all six epic films in the Saga, from The Phantom Menace to Return of the Jedi, will be available on Digital HD throughout the galaxy – or at least here on Earth – globally beginning Friday, April 10.

Jupiter Ascending is likely the most polarizing film of 2015’s first quarter. Nobody went to see it and a lot of those that did, didn’t really care for it. Personally, as a fan of the Wachowskis, it was one I was anticipating regardless of whether or not it was delayed. Was it a good or great film? No, not really and its admittedly a bit of a mess. There was plenty to behold in it and appreciate, and it does entertain (I particular dug Drew McWeeny’s review of it over at HitFix). For me, I’d rather take the ambitious/noble failure and film that just goes for it over something mediocre, safe or average any day of the week. I’ll remember and take with me things both good and bad from Jupiter Ascending while forgetting films of the other ilk. Jordan Grout had the best defense of this science fiction extravaganza when it came out stating “How can this movie be the worst? It has freaking dinosaurs flying spaceships!” Its coming to Blu-ray where I’m sure more will peak their curiosity and it will either continue to be hated or find itself the beginning of cult status.
