In this darkly comedic odyssey, Academy Award nominee Rinko Kikuchi (Babel, Pacific Rim) stars as Kumiko, a frustrated Office Lady whose imagination transcends the confines of her mundane life. Kumiko becomes obsessed with a mysterious, battered VHS tape of a popular film she’s mistaken for a documentary, fixating on a scene where a suitcase of stolen cash is buried in the desolate, frozen landscape of North Dakota. Believing this treasure to be real, she leaves behind Tokyo and her beloved rabbit Bunzo to recover it – and finds herself on a dangerous adventure unlike anything she’s seen in the movies. Ahoy there! Extra! Extra! We have some new Disney news today! Marvel Studios has commenced principal photography at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia on the hotly anticipated Captain America Civil War, the third installment of its particular “Super Hero franchise.” The production will shoot on location in Atlanta, Georgia, which serves as the base for the film’s production, as well as locations in Germany, Puerto Rico and Iceland. All I have to say is can I come along? Joking! No I’m not! I really do want to be part of this all! Luckily for me I have the next best thing…the official press release below from the Big Mouse. I’m sitting here actually watching this on HBO as I type this up so here goes nothing. We are overjoyed to announce the theatrical trailer debut of IFC Midnight’s new film The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) directed by Tom Six and starring Dieter Laser, Laurence R. Harvey, Eric Roberts and Bree Olson. The film will be released theatrically and on VOD/digital streaming services starting Friday, May 22nd. How the film will incorporate Dieter and Laurence’s characters again is anybody’s guess, but nevertheless I’ll give it that old college try! Marvel’s ANT-MAN, one of the original members of the Avengers, finally makes his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut this summer following the global critical and box office success of Avengers: Age of Ultron. ANT-MAN stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, and Michael Douglas and is in theaters on July 17, 2015! I’m just interested to see if this former Edgar Wright production is going to sink or swim, my money is on the former, but I’m optimistic at the same time for the latter. And hey! Seth MacFarlane returns as writer, director and voice star of TED 2, Universal and Media Rights Capital’s follow-up to the highest-grossing original R-rated comedy of all time. Joined once again by star Mark Wahlberg and fellow Ted writers Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild, MacFarlane produces the live action/CG-animated comedy alongside Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber, as well as John Jacobs and Jason Clark. The trailer for Universal Pictures’ The Visit has just debuted online. I remember seeing this one before Unfriended (that’s a whole other story) and thought it looked really good and then I saw the name M. Night Shyamalan and sunk in my seat. I have a love/hate relationship with the man, but nevertheless I’m a professional and willing to give the man another chance to win me over with his newest entry in the horror genre, The Visit. After all, it is produced by Jason Blum who has been hitting one homer after another lately.
