The popular Spanish-language horror series [REC] comes to a terrifying conclusion in [REC]4: APOCALYPSE, available on DVD April 14 from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Original series writer/director Jaume Balagueró ([REC], [REC]2) returns to deliver a “head-bashing, blood splattering and gut gushing explosively awesome ending to a franchise that aims at nothing but to scare the living daylight out of you” (Rama’s Screen). Manuela Velasco ([REC], [REC]2) also returns in her Fangoria Chainsaw Award®-nominated performance ([REC], Best Actress, 2007) as television reporter Ángela Vidal. Finally rescued from the virus-infected building, Ángela is taken to an oil tanker quarantine facility to be examined. Little do the soldiers on board know, Ángela now carries the seeds of the mysterious demonic virus that is about to be unleashed one last, horrifying time. This must-own finale to the action-packed horror saga that inspired the hit American remake Quarantine comes with a thrilling making-of featurette.

New Year’s Evil is one of the more better known or higher profile golden age slasher films that has yet to see its release on Blu-ray. That is no longer a thing as Scream Factory is rectifying the situation come February 24. And mainly its in the conscience because its a one of them that got to claim one of the biggest holiday’s in their title. Its a film that is a face paced, race against the clock thriller as a man tries to off a woman for every time zone in the United States’ hits the midnight hour. Yes, that’s all very silly, but its all very fun at the same time. Looking back on this film has become a lot more fun than during the time when it was supposed to be “scary”. Time has been kind to it and allowed us to see it in a different way than maybe it was before. Here’s a film I am very excited for. Guillermo del Toro has a gothic horror story coming out this October and we now have the first look at it. The film stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, and Charlie Hunnam. This looks like something completely fitting for del Toro and given his attitude on film, he certainly knows how to put his all in each one of his features. Leighton Meester and Gillian Jacobs star in keenly observant comedy Life Partners arriving on Blu-ray and DVD March 3 from Magnolia Home Entertainment. It also has Adam Brody, Abby Elliott and Kate McKinnon. I’m a huge fan of both Jacobs and McKinnon, so this film at least has that going for it in my wheelhouse. Amy Schumer has proven to be a unique comic voice in the past few years, given her rise in popularity, which includes her very funny and risque Comedy Central series, Inside Amy Schumer. Now she has teamed up with director Judd Apatow for Trainwreck, a romantic comedy that very much looks like a film fitting of these two individuals sensabilities. Also: it has wrestling star John Cena being funny, which is a big plus. The cast also features Bill Hader, Brie Larson, Tilda Swinton and comedy superstar LeBron James. I’m excited to see this film, but for now, everyone can check out both a red-band and green-band trailer, along with some images and a poster for the film!
