It has Sarah Butler AND Malcolm McDowell in it! That’s like a two for one deal! So here’s the basics. They both star in Free Fall and the elevator terror flick will be unleashed on Blu-ray October 28th! Check out the full press release below from Anchor Bay. Anchor Bay and Scream Factory have added some stuff to the already large assortment of extras coming in the Halloween box set due out September 23rd. I think some of these were already going to be on the release and they are just clarifying. BUT, they are adding stuff like a bunch of new Horror’s Hallowed Grounds episodes (I tend to love these) visiting locations from Halloween 4, 5 and 6 as well as the pilot episode that was based on the original Halloween. Well done, Mr. Sean Clark! They are also providing a screen shot from the Producer’s Cut of Halloween 6 and my oh my my jaw hit the floor at seeing this cleaned up non-bootleg image! I’ll let them tell you all about it below. Can we just skip August and go to September yet? Continue reading ‘Updated Specs For HALLOWEEN – THE COMPLETE COLLECTION Now Available!’

When Teresa and the girls leave their N.J. salon for a weekend of sun and sin down the shore, they re blindsided by bizarre events that send them from the sands of Seaside Heights to a secluded house deep in the N.J Pine Barrens. Frightened by stories of the legendary Jersey Devil, the local Piney’s and a giant dim-witted neighbor, the girls return to Seaside and hook-up with five fist-pumpers. Later they converge at a Seaside bar where they re quickly ejected for a dance-floor brawl. With nowhere to go, the group retreats to the Pine Barrens for the night. Blinded by lust, they remain unaware that their long-standing debt to humanity is about to be settled – with their lives. Based on the acclaimed novel by Nick Hornby, A LONG WAY DOWN stars Pierce Brosnan, Toni Collette, Aaron Paul and Imogen Poots as four strangers who happen to meet on the roof of a London building on New Year’s Eve each with the intent of committing suicide. Their plans for death in solitude are ruined, so they mutually agree to call off their plans for six weeks and form an unconventional, dysfunctional family. We’re almost to Expendables 3! It comes out next week. Still 2 movies left for the ‘Countdown To Expendables 3‘ series. Today we focus on series mainstay, and one who’s action career started with a little pick me up by starring with Stallone in Rocky IV, Dolph Lundgren. Dolph was supposed to be the next big thing and was given some iconic roles to lead off his career. He was handed both He-Man and The Punisher (which in case you’re wondering why the choice today wasn’t this film, it IS available in Region B in two territories). But, aside from action junkies, I don’t think Dolph ever really took off as large as he was supposed to. However, Dolph never quit. From Rocky IV to the present, the guy has been doing pure action movies. Granted he’s gone from big theatrical releases, to minimal, to straight-to-video…but still working nonetheless. During his heyday I was never a big fan, but looking back, I’ve taken to the guy and have really enjoyed going back to his old films for another look. Writer-director Bobcat Goldthwait takes a radical departure from his recent string of black comedies(God Bless America, World’s Greatest Dad) to create a film that shows there are still surprises and shocks to be had in the found-footage genre pioneered by The Blair Witch Project. In her review inThe New York Times, Jeannette Catsoulis pointed out Goldthwait “engineers a static, almost wordless 19-minute shot inside a tent that generates more tension than many horror directors achieve with a swarm of Foley artists and a healthier budget. This canny exploitation of the power of silence is unnerving.” Tom Huddleston of Time Out London called the film “a whole lot of jarring, juddering fun.” Brian Orndorf of Blu-ray.com said, “It’s smaller in scope and horror ambition, which automatically makes it more enjoyable than most of its brethren, creating a mix of local color and camping disaster that’s basic but frightfully effective.” “WILLOW CREEK does everything a little bit better than others of its kind,” praised Scott Tobias of TheDissolve.com.
