Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 acts as a conclusion to the Lords of Shadow story. The new game is set in a modern city tainted by Dracula’s influence and within Dracula’s castle itself. It sees a tortured Dracula charged with engaging Satan in battle once again. This epic sequel boasts a vast open-world environment, user-controlled camera and a truly enormous challenge as the world’s most famous vampire seeks an end to his immortal existence. His story comes to an end in a suitably shocking circumstance. Continue reading ‘‘Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2’ Available for PS3 & X-Box 360 February 25th!’
Martin Scorsese’s The King of Comedy is one of his films that people love, but does not seemed to get mention nearly as much as his other classics and more “popular” films. I would easily put it in his top 10, if not his top 5. It features another terrific performance by Robert De Niro, in a film that is an incredibly dark comedy about a sad man who desperately wants to be a star. Jerry Lewis co-stars in a rare dramatic role, which easily adds to thematic nature of this film, which is simply great to watch as a lighter, yet similarly surreal companion to Taxi Driver, of all films. Now the film arrives on a 30th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray on March 25th. Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.
One of my favorite films of 2013 and another great film from Joel and Ethan Coen, Inside Llewyn Davis is a fantastic film about the Greenwich Village folk scene of 1961. That premise may not automatically interest everyone, but the joy of a Coen brothers film is the way they find ways to make brilliant films out of seemingly any premise. It does not hurt that the songs are fantastic (and I’m not even a huge folk music fan), the acting is great (Oscar Isaac deserved an Oscar nomination), and the film is a joy to look at (I can’t wait to see the look of this film on Blu-ray). Come March 11th, everyone will have the chance to check out this film at home. Read on to learn more about this release.

Famed horror director Victor Salva (Jeepers Creepers trilogy) returns in the blood-curdling new film starring Tobin Bell (Saw franchise), From the mind of Charles Agron, the eerie thriller follows Nick Di Santo (Luke Kleintank, “Pretty Little Liars”) who has the chilling ability to foresee how one will inevitably perish by simply touching them. Tormented by this power, Nick learns from his institutionalized mother (Golden Globe®nominee Lesley-Anne Down, North and South) that his father, whom he previously thought was deceased, is actually alive. Hoping that he can reveal the origin of his dark gift, Nick sets off to find his father with his best friend (Anthony Ray Perez, Don’t Pass Me By) and girlfriend (Alex McKenna, “90210”).Along their journey, they are terrified when they realize that every road they take leads them to the same decrepit mansion, one that only previously existed in Nick’s childhood imagination. Finally succumbing to the will of the house, Nick soon finds himself in a horrifying battle with a mysterious, haunting figure (Bell). Continue reading ‘‘Dark House’ on Blu-ray and DVD March 11th!’
Come this March, the title of the post may need to be altered to “Best Picture Winner”, but regardless, one of the best and most important films of 2013 comes to Blu-ray on February 18th. 12 Years A Slave tells the true story of Solomon Northrup, a man kidnapped and forced into slavery in the south. This harrowing journey, based on Northrup’s actual memoir, directed with incredible precision by Steve McQueen, and featuring a tremendous cast, the film has been rightfully given heaps of praise and while it can be a tough film to watch, it is certainly one worth investing time in. Here’s a title I’m excited to check out since there was no press screening in my area. All I know is from the trailers, things look intense here! I did a little reading on the background of this production and whatnot so I’m eager to see the final product on the big screen, in my living room, of course. So this morning comes news that Out of the Furnace will be getting the Blu-ray treatment on March 11th. I’m marking that date down in my calendar and so should you. Wait! No! You should pre-order this title now and check out the full press release below courtesy of Fox. Enjoy! Continue reading ‘Out of the Furnace Ignites on Blu-ray March 11th’
Scream Factory’s “Summer Of Fear” keeps turning up the heat. Today they broke the news that they’ll be releasing Golden-Era slasher film The Final Terror, hopefully in July. The film has a notable cast members of the likes of Joe Pantoliano and Daryl Hannah. This is great news for those of us that love collecting all our favorite vintage slashers on Blu-ray. Once you click to continue, you’ll see the artwork, which is indeed final. I’ll keep you up to date here once the information on this one comes in!

Alright, you knew this moment was coming and I cannot wait to ring the new year in officially now that we are in it with a Blu-ray screening of American Hustle! You know what I be saying? That’s right! In my world, the coveted picture of the year is going to come down to this, Gravity and unfortunately 12 Years a Slave, but thou hast no fear…it’s going to be American Hustle all the way. I’m as sure of it as I was the 2013 Denver Broncos losing by 40 points in the biggest game of the year (does that instill confidence or what?). Actually, I stand more of a chance with this prediction! Haha. So without further ado, let’s join Sony Pictures Home Entertainment in talking everything American Hustle below…and oh yeah…don’t forget to get your pre-order in! Frozen audiences were invited to join the act – literally – this past weekend as more than 2000 theaters nationwide introduced an all-new sing-a-long version of Disney’s Oscar®-nominated, Golden Globe®-winning big-screen adventure. Josh Gad, who voices the character Olaf, surprised audiences at the Sing-A-Long Screening this Sunday at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood.

Here’s the last trailer I plan on posting for now. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 had a Super Bowl spot, but rather than post that, I went for the 4-minute extended trailer, which basically highlights that this big summer sequel is going to be all about Oscorp throwing everything they’ve got at Peter Parker. Will it work or will it be too crowded? I don’t know, but it is a new Spider-Man movie and he has a colorful rogues gallery, so it will at least be neat to see a few of them on screen, going after the web head. Continue on to check out this extended look at the upcoming film.

Continuing on with posts for all these big Super Bowl movie spots, we now have Noah, the latest from director Darren Aronofsky. I am not sure how “untold” the story of Noah may be, but Aronofsky making a biblical epic is enough for me. This teaser certainly puts plenty of emphasis on the impending doom for the world, while Russell Crowe’s Noah scrambles to protect his family, as well as, y’know, save all the animals via a giant ark. Should be something of a spectacle. Continue on to check out this mini trailer.
Not being much of a fan of all these “trailers for the trailers” that has become a “thing” these days, I was pretty happy to be looking forward to the first teaser for the new Transformers trailer of all things, during the Super Bowl, given how it didn’t resort to a “5-second look at the official spot” or any of that nonsense. Now that I have seen it, I can’t say I was disappointed. Transformers: Age of Extinction is the next stop for Michael “Boom Boom” Bay and while he has basically traded in the old cast for Mark Wahlberg and Dinobots, I cannot say I was expecting much more than what I got. This film may not win over many new fans of this big, explosion-filled franchise, but it will surely satisfy those who contribute to the colossal massive box office results, or at least give those that don’t like them, yet see the films anyway, plenty to talk about. Regardless, the spot from the big game is online now, continue to to check out the teaser.

After this trailer, I’m thinking this film looks like a lot of fun. We’re all Breaking Bad and Aaron Paul fans, so I’m sure that’s enough to get most of us to watch it. This film may fill that Fast & Furious void present this year. And if you dig car chases, this looks like one giant chase. I hear it features a lot of practical effects and tremendous stunt work. If it includes great filmmaking of said stunt work, then this could be quite the spectacle. Need For Speed hits theaters on March 14th. Zoom zoom ahead to watch the Super Bowl trailer!

The green was smothering in the 1st half. And it didn’t stop in the commercials either. Kermit the Frog returns in the the follow up to the Muppet Movie, Muppets Most Wanted. The film looks to feature cameos from stars galore and a lot more Muppet fun and mayhem. The film opens up on March 21, and you can have a look at the film when you continue reading and click play on the trailer below!

Marvel Studios leveraged America’s favorite sporting event to debut the world premiere of the new full-length trailer in an unprecedented cross platform partnership with Fox and Marvel. Fox broadcaster Joe Buck introduced the special look to the Big Game spot, which directed viewers to FoxSports.com for a complete CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER takeover and the brand new full-length trailer. The :30 second Big Game spot included music from the National Anthem and aired surrounding the team captains introduction and the National Anthem performance.

Remember my wishlist article? Scratch this one off that list. The Scream Factory Collector’s Edition of Ginger Snaps is one of my most anticipated releases of the year. And its getting their full treatment. The Blu-ray won’t be here until July and the extras aren’t finalized yet, but today they dropped us a look at the key artwork for it. It comes from Joel Robinson who did the art on the Vincent Price box set last year. July can’t come soon enough as I’m really excited for this one. I’ve also included a look at key artwork recently announced for their upcoming Collector’s Editions of Dog Soldiers and Sleepaway Camp (Finally! Cannot wait!). Also noteworthy is they have announced that they will be adding Lake Placid and Hellhole to their “Summer of Fear” lineup. So if you’re a fan of these alternate designs like I am, keep scrolling to scope out these 3 art reveals. So come on…tell me! Who’s excited as I am for this weekend’s big game?! I’m using the power of visualization to visualize the Broncos winning their third Super Bowl title, a fitting close to Manning’s all-star career. And as a bonus…we have all the big tent pole action movies vying for your attention during the game too. One of them is actually being teased in this post. And yes, despite not being a fan of the first film, I’m excited for this sequel. So tune in to the Big Game this Sunday for an exclusive look at Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, but for now…check out the tease and the new posters below!
