SDCC 2011: Screen Gems: Underworld Awakening and Attack the Block

Mid-afternoon in Hall H on Friday at San Diego Comic Con was an interesting place to be when it came time for the Screen Gems panel.  As the studio had two films to plug, one being the fourth in a successful franchise that I have no real interest in and the other being a future […]

‘Attack The Block’ Is A Lot Of Fresh Fun, Believe

Advance Review: Attack the Block is wholly original and entertaining, believe!  I have recently seen Super 8 and Paul, which serve as fun films that do a lot to pay as much tribute as possible to Spielbergian-era films of the 80s (mostly), but Attack the Block is a film that acknowledges what similar genre films […]

Aaron’s Top 10 Best and Worst Films of 2010

It’s the end of 2010, and with that I have a list of my favorite movies. The following list contains all of the films that I felt defined what I seek out in most films; namely that they have elements of entertainment, intrigue, or master craftsmanship when it comes to the filmmaking. Given my lengthy honorable mention section, there were certainly a good number of films that I had to choose from, but this list, I feel, represents the best of what 2010 had to offer theatrically:

Scott Pilgrim vs. The World (Blu-ray Review)

The comic-con sensation is now on Blu-ray and although it may not have done great business at the box office, I predict that over time more audiences will discover this movie much like they did director Edgar Wright’s earlier movies Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.  Also like those previous films, Scott Pilgrim is […]

‘Scott Pilgrim’ Battles On Blu-ray in November

Alright, it’s time for me to confess.  As much as I said I hated the trailers for this film and as much as I bashed it every time I saw the trailers, I really want to watch Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World and see what all the hype is about.  There I said it.  Hopefully […]

Scott Pilgrim Achieves an Epic Win (Movie Review)

From the fiery depths of geekdom, director Edgar Wright has emerged with Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, a film daring to defy the conventions of both romantic comedies and action films.  His adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim comic book series is a wonderful blend of comedy, action, romance, music, and great visual storytelling.  […]
