Whether you were watching the premiere of Marvel’s Agent Carter or simply waiting for YouTube/Twitter/Facebook to explode with all this ANT-MAN stuff, it is now safe to think small and get a load of what Marvel has in store this July. Ant-Man is coming and troubled behind-the-scenes business aside, many surely have enough faith in the […]

Today, Marvel gives us our first glimpse at Paul Rudd in Ant-Man. No, not as Ant-Man (yet!), but on set shooting. The film began shooting yesterday and Marvel’s announcement follows the picture. On the surface, after seeing multiple television spots initially, Last Vegas appeared to be nothing more than a cash grab at the box office as the older generation’s version of the wildly popular first entry in the franchise, The Hangover. Heck, it’s even about four friends and a bachelor party in Vegas! How much more convincing can that […]

I have to admit. I really wanted nothing to do with Last Vegas theatrically, but after reluctantly taking the trip with it, I actually liked it. It did not top anybody’s Top 10 lists last year, at least I don’t think it did, but that did not stop me from having a good time with […]

In the 80s, cinema had a comedically adventurous trio consisting of a romantic couple and its third wheel in Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. They had gone through some Indiana Jones-inspired adventures in Romancing The Stone and its sequel Jewel Of The Nile. The first was a well respected and loved adventure. The […]

Once again, the month of January has actually managed to deliver some disposable fun, this time in the form of an action thriller from director Steven Soderbergh. Haywire falls into the director’s category of more mainstream, but it certainly boasts a strong cast and enough offbeat qualities to make it stand out a bit. Of […]

One of my top ten films of 2010, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps hits Blu-ray for the first time, but it is it worth it? Is it worth spending your hard earned cash or precious time to check out the world that was first introduced in that glorious year that was 1987? Well, that’s kind […]

Leave it to our good friends at Fox Home Entertainment to impress me today. I thought this was a pretty clever PR release for the Oliver Stone sequel, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. The Michael Douglas and Shia LaBeouf film will make its Blu-ray debut on December 21, 2010. Don’t believe me? Then check out […]

Oliver Stone’s follow up to his popular 1987 corporate classic, Wall Street, puts me in a tough spot. On one hand the film has comes at a well chosen time, in true Stone form, by being topical and making observations about the economic world of today. It also features some very good performances not just […]

Between Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Tron Legacy, we’ve got the beginnings for calling 2010 the year of the distant sequel. How successful can these films be when trying to follow up on something that many in the audience may not have remembered? While Tron Legacy is still a few months away, we can […]

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is one of those movies that has production stories just as interesting as the movie itself. Before the book was published, actor Kirk Douglas read it and bought the rights to the book and turned into a play that he took to Broadway. Despite good reviews and a great […]
