I’m about as happy as a pig in slop about the following news. So here it is! Almost 14 years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of The X-Files is a thrilling, six-episode event series from creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reinhabiting their roles as iconic FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI Assistant Director Walter Skinner, Mulder and Scully’s boss, who walks a fine line between loyalty to these investigators and accountability to his superiors. This marks the momentous return of the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning pop culture phenomenon, which remains one of the longest-running sci-fi series in network television history. 
Game of Thrones, the most-watched HBO original series and best-selling TV on DVD title for the past five years, is now releasing in collectible Steelbook packaging. Following the release of Steelbook Seasons 1 and 2 this past fall (see our glorious review and coverage 
I have to admit, I wasn’t the biggest fan of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad when it was announced and especially after seeing stills of the Killer Croc or whatever his name is. However, everything started to shift emotionally within me when the first trailer dropped. Then came the next and so on and they just get better. Despite not being a huge Margot Robbie fan, she actually has me excited for his portrayal of Harley Quinn. In fact, the only one who has me nervous now is Jared Leto’s performance of my beloved Joker. He just doesn’t look right, but all will be forgiven when this film rocks my world in August, right? Absolutely! 
It’s no surprise that Marvel has rebooted the Black Panther series. After all, they have their blockbuster movie, Captain America: Civil War, coming out May 6th, which will be introducing T’challa, the Black Panther, to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s not at all uncommon for Marvel to hype looming movies by pushing related video games, action figures, and comics leading up the release date. Sometimes these endeavors are more about raising awareness, and of course, making a buck, which can unfortunately compromise the integrity of the project. I’ve seen it many times before, which is why I’m so happy to report that Black Panther isn’t just a marketing device. It’s an ambitious, original, top notch book which has quickly become a must read for me.
The brand new teaser trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” just debuted on Good Morning America and is now available to share with your readers. Lucasfilm’s Rogue One, which takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, tells the story of unlikely heroes who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. And boy does this look like Kathleen Kennedy and company are going to keep on their roll. Mon Mothma! Donnie Yen kicking butt! AT-ATs in a tropical beach battle! Wait! There’s more Star Trek news today! Paramount Home Media Distribution announced today that director J.J. Abrams’ global blockbusters Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness will be the studio’s first two titles released on the new 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray format. The releases coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Star Trek franchise in 2016. 4K UHD represents the next evolution in home entertainment, offering four times the resolution and more than double the number of colors available with full HD. In addition, these spectacular 4K UHD releases deliver exceptional vibrancy and contrast through High Dynamic Range technology, which reveals hidden details and shades of color that more closely mimic real life. Well, its not the Deep Space Nine Blu-ray announcement I’m sure everyone would have preferred. Instead we get a repackaging of what I’m sure we already have. Still, exciting to grab the whole thing in one fell swoop for a thoughtful and kind price. The announcement also mentions the new “shelf friendly packaging”…which is confusing because the previous releases fit on the shelf ideally and perfectly. So, I’m interested to see what this is all about. We’ll see! Anyway, a little more info on the release, coming June 7th, can be found below. No pre-order available yet.
