There is a lot of anticipation building for Maleficent, the live-action take on the Sleeping Beauty story, told from the perspective of it’s infamous villain. I have liked what I have seen so far and now there is a new trailer, with a nice addition that seems quite fitting for the vibe of the film. Here’s […]

I have been posting a lot of superhero trailers lately, so this is a nice change in pace. Next summer sees the release of Maleficent, a live-action take on the Sleeping Beauty story, with more of a focus on its iconic villain, Maleficent, now played by Angelina Jolie. In this post is the first official […]

Let’s be completely honest, I agreed and wanted review Gia because of Angelina Jolie. Okay, let me clarify…because of the nudity associated and promised with this title. Many Bothan spies died getting me this information, so I was hoping their deaths wouldn’t be in vain. Thankfully for me, and the memories and valor of those […]

To say that time really flies when reviewing Blu-ray discs would be an understatement. Has it really been 10-11 years since Original Sin premiered in theaters to critical dismay? It seems like only yesterday that this film, or the anticipation of this film, was creating a bit of a stir do to the steamy starring […]

The Dragon Warrior, a panda bear named Po, is back with his team of martial arts animal warrior friends known as the Furious Five in this gorgeous sequel to Kung Fu Panda. I emphasize gorgeous, as the animation (which includes different animation styles), use of color, and martial arts choreography are all wonderfully executed (it […]

I was pretty harsh in my initial review of The Tourist last December. I’ll admit it. It’s not that it’s a completely bad movie, but it just had a multitude of potential and all the right ingredients to be so much better than it was. That’s why I initially called it disappointing. So why wasn’t […]

I remember seeing this film theatrically and for some strange reason I had a burning desire to take a spur of the moment trip to Italy. The film’s scenery really sold me on the fascination. But anyway, what I am really here to tell you all about is the arrival of The Tourist on Blu-ray […]

It’s the end of 2010, and with that I have a list of my favorite movies. The following list contains all of the films that I felt defined what I seek out in most films; namely that they have elements of entertainment, intrigue, or master craftsmanship when it comes to the filmmaking. Some may only have a few of these aspects covered, others may have all three bases dominated. Given my lengthy honorable mention section, there were certainly a good number of films that I had to choose from, but this list, I feel, represents the best of what 2010 had to offer theatrically:

SALT is one of those films, just like my recent review of Resident Evil: Afterlife, that fall into my guilty pleasure category. I just can’t help it. I am a glutton for punishment when it comes to attractive leading ladies and hardcore action sequences and believe me; SALT has plenty of the latter. Now whether […]

To reference a review I wrote a few weeks ago, this movie has nice shoes. It is nice to look at, but to be fair, is it really that hard, these days, with a large budget, to not be able to make a movie set in Venice look that good? Regardless of the answer to that question, it is apparently hard to make a movie set in Venice that features two of the world’s biggest stars, is directed by a talented filmmaker, and written by a couple of Oscar winners any good. The Tourist is kind of a disaster. It lacks any kind of momentum, suspense, or entertainment (save for some random quips by an ill-equipped ((or just bored)) Johnny Depp). This film put me to the point of wanting to rather watch a movie about Paul Bettany’s character dealing with the boring bureaucracy of his job. But how do I really feel?

My good friend has a one-word saying where if something is just barely plausible in her opinion she will respond by saying “meh.” Honest to God, I can’t think of a better word to describe The Tourist. When she asked me today how the film was I was not quick enough to respond in the […]

I don’t know what it is? Despite the ridiculous action at times and big gaping plot holes, I found myself really liking Angelina Jolie’s Salt. I’m not a big Jolie fan, but I can’t help being a sucker for her in action movies like Wanted and also in crime thrillers such as Taking Lives (God, […]

After months of ad campaigns asking film-goers, “Who is Salt?,” only to be met mostly with a response sounding like, “who cares?,” it’s safe to say that the actual film does answer that question, and also manages to be a pretty effective action thriller. However, it does go into some hardcore ridiculous territory, but I […]

Welcome to the first of many updates from Comic-Con’s Hall H. Today’s first update begins with a little spy film that opened last night, Salt. It’s not every day that you get to be in the same room as Angelina Jolie. Angelina, joined by fellow co-star Liev Schreiber and producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura took the […]
