Revisiting one of his most memorable roles, Paul Newman stars as Fast Eddie Felson from The Hustler. Years later, his story continues in The Color of Money, when Eddie forms a profitable alliance with a flashy and talented young pool shark named Vince (Cruise), but all bets are off when Vince’s arrogance costs them […]

I feel that there are two ways to really delve into Martin Scorsese’s 3D adventure/drama Hugo. On the one hand, I could address the fact that this is less a film for children, as the marketing would imply, and more a loving tribute to the creation of magic via the film format during the early […]

Oh yes, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is finally bringing Taxi Driver to the Blu-ray format this April! Taxi Driver is considered one of the best character studies and even one of the best films of all time. The genesis of what many people consider Martin Scorsese’s finest achievement happened thanks to Robert De Niro. De Niro had read Jake La Motta’s autobiography while he was filming The Godfather Part II and he was convinced that it would make a compelling movie and began to try to convince director Martin Scorsese to direct […]

Warner Bros has done something unique. In a music first, if memory serves, they have released a collection of the King’s films and live performances. These editions have been released as a 3-disc Blu-ray collection and as a single disc-book of Elvis on Tour. WhySoBlu was extremely fortunate to get a copy of the 3-disc […]

I said this before, but this time I mean it. This may be the hardest movie review I have ever been tasked to write. That’s not because the movie sucked, quite the contrary, but because I was left with so many questions in regards to what I had just watched. And that’s a good thing! […]

Legendary filmmaker Martin Scorsese once again collaborates with Leonardo DiCaprio after 3 successful films (Gangs of New York, The Aviator, The Departed). This film is adapted and based off the novel by Dennis Lehane about an US deputy (DiCaprio) assigned to investigate a mysterious disappearance at a reclusive mental institution. Scorsese’s Hitchcockian approach to gothic horror is ripe with suspense and human drama.
