Earth Girls Are Easy – Collector’s Series (Blu-ray Review)

The Vestron Video series lives! Continuing to bring films from the obscurities of VHS and DVD to Blu-ray, the line has been both fantastic to see things roll out with superb extras and on the wallet. They really do put these out for a steal on Day 1. The latest serving from them is 1988’s invaders from space musical Earth Girls Are Easy which boasts Geena Davis, Jeff Goldblum, Jim Carrey, Damon Wayans and Julie Brown. They’ve served up a disc with a load of new extras to take in as well as some archival stuff they dug up. Pearl – Wal-mart Exclusive Art Edition (Blu-ray Review)

One of the year’s biggest surprises, and that surprise being is mere existence, Pearl will be arriving on Blu-ray on November 15th. The film, a prequel to Ti West’s first film this year, announced itself at as the credits ended to X. With continued great reviews for this series going 2 films strong now, Pearl proved an even more unique experience and showcased more of the strong West/Mia Goth combo. The film comes with a couple featurettes and will be available in 2 different editions. That difference merely being the cover art and that’s it. This review will be for the Wal-mart Exclusive Art Edition which differs from the standard and can only be purchased from the behemoth retailer. Top Gun: Maverick (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)

Top Gun: Maverick defied the odds and flew past all doubters on its way to becoming the biggest movie of summer 2022. Could it hold for year’s end? It’ll be tough with Black Panther and Avatar supplying large challenges in the closing months of the year. In old school fashion, it arrives on 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray after a healthy theatrical run with good legs and notably enough still in the box office top 10. This will include a Dolby Atmos track and a nice array of extras to keep you in the cockpit well after viewing the film. Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Announces Four Holiday Classics Coming To 4K UHD

Four classic and beloved holiday family films – National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Elf, and The Polar Express – will be released on Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack and Digital on 11/1/22, it was announced today by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Packs will include an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc with each feature film in 4K with HDR, a Blu-ray disc with the feature films and pre-existing special features, and a Digital version of the feature films. Ultra HD Blu-ray showcases 4K resolution with High Dynamic Range (HDR) and a wider color spectrum, offering consumers brighter, deeper, more lifelike colors for a home entertainment viewing experience like never before.  For the complete 4K Ultra HD experience with HDR, a 4K Ultra HD TV with HDR, an Ultra HD Blu-ray player and a high-speed HDMI (category 2) cable are required. Beast – Collector’s Edition (Blu-ray Review)

Despite opening to solid reviews, Beast couldn’t go beast-mode at the box office. A decent take wasn’t enough to cover budget, but perhaps the well-liked Idris Elba film can find a life and following in the post-theater afterlife of streaming, digital and physical media. Speaking of physical media, the film was released on Blu-ray on October 11th. The release features a 7.1 surround track and is loaded with a nice array of extras. You’ll also get the DVD version and a digital copy included.
