Comic-Con 2009 Update #7 – Women of Marvel

On the final day of this year’s Comic Con was the Women of Marvel panel.  No, Rogue and She-Hulk were not present.  These were the talented women that work at Marvel who assemble a wide array of those stories we love to read.  Panelists included (but were not limited to) editor Jen Grünwald, colorist-extraordinaire Laura Martin and the brilliant mind of writer Marjorie Liu.  Continue reading ‘Comic-Con 2009 Update #7 – Women of Marvel’

Comic-Con 2009 Update #6 – True Blood Panel and Q&A Session

I remember at last year’s Comic-Con extravaganza seeing all these True Blood signs and Tru Blood advertisements, not knowing what they were really for.  I just figured out it was some kind of brilliant marketing scheme, which it was of course.  I thought they were for a real beverage that actually existed.  Was I ever wrong at the time.  I was only drawn to all the signs, advertisements and banners due to my love for vampire lore.  Almost a year later, I would discover the sheer appeal of True Blood after watching Season 1 of the HBO television show on Blu-ray and through talking to fellow co-workers about the crazy plot lines.  You got to love them!  Continue reading ‘Comic-Con 2009 Update #6 – True Blood Panel and Q&A Session’

Comic-Con 2009 Update #5 – Warner Bros.

OK…so here is a panel I almost skipped in favor of hanging out in the exhibit hall.  I was also encouraged to stand in line early for the 24 panel later that day, but for some reason I chose to stand in line for the Warner Bros. movie panel, a choice I will never regret.  I can’t believe how many celebs were in attendance here for this panel.  This panel was definitely one of the highlights of Comic-Con 2009…for me at least.  Not only did I get to see Megan Fox in person, but also Robert Downey Jr., Denzel Washington, Cameron Diaz and many more!  Continue reading ‘Comic-Con 2009 Update #5 – Warner Bros.’

Comic-Con 2009 Update #4 – The Collector

Here’s a movie screening we unfortunately were not able to make this past Friday night at Comic-Con 2009, but I felt like I owe a BIG plug to their publicist for his kindness and hospitality in inviting us to the premiere of it at San Diego’s Pacific Theatres Gas Lamp Theatre.  From the previews shown on TV alone, this is a MUST-SEE for me this coming weekend!  What movie am I talking about?  Oh yeah…I guess I should mention that huh?  Well the movie needs no introduction, as The Collector will be thrilling and gathering victims this Friday, July 31stThe Collector is brought to you by the ingenius minds of director/writer Marcus Dunstan and writer Patrick Melton (FEAST, SAW IV, V & VI).  Need I say more? Comic-Con 2009 Update #3 – DVD/Blu-ray Producers 2009: Now in Glorious High-Definition!

Being an avid fan of the Blu-ray format myself, one of my favorite panels of the past two years at Comic-Con has been the DVD/Blu-ray Producers Panel hosted by Bill Hunt, editor of Digital Bits.  Let’s give credit where credit is deserved.  Bill Hunt has been on the forefront of DVD and Blu-ray news ever since I remember and I always relied on the Digital Bits to find out the latest in home entertainment news.  Last year’s panel was very exciting as we were on the advent of the rise of the Blu-ray format and this year’s panel was even more remarkable now that Blu-ray has a good share of the home media market.  Continue reading ‘Comic-Con 2009 Update #3 – DVD/Blu-ray Producers 2009: Now in Glorious High-Definition!’

Comic-Con 2009 Update #2 – Lou Ferrigno Interview

After months of waiting for its arrival, the 2009 San Diego Comic Con is but a memory now.  Nevertheless, it was a great time which provided me with the opportunity to interview the “Incredible” Lou Ferrigno.  At 57 years young, the former Mr. Universe is still in outstanding shape as he maintains his daily workouts to keep up his hard-earned physique.  The actor/trainer/body-builder gave us the scoop on what he’s been up to lately as well as his workout expertise and the recent passing of his close friend, Michael Jackson. Comic-Con 2009 Update #1 – Rob Zombie

Courtesy of G4’s Attack of the Show…Rob Zombie was live at Comic-Con 2009!  That’s right…The Harvester of Black Sunshine himself was there live in the flesh and we got to see him and quickly talk with him.  In addition to his upcoming Blu-ray release of The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, based on Rob Zombie’s comic, I got to ask the man a quick question while he was signing autographs for a select number of individuals.  I asked him what he was up to next in life after the release of Halloween II this August.
