The World’s End is upon us! By that I mean the new film from co-writer/director Edgar Wright, co-writer/star Simon Pegg, and star Nick Frost. The World’s End is a sci-fi comedy, which brings a trilogy to a close. This would be the “Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy” or the “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy” that also includes the Rom-Zom-Com, Shaun of the Dead, along with the high-octane, action-buddy-comedy Hot Fuzz. I am a huge fan of both of these films and found The World’s End to be a fitting close to this trio (My review can be found HERE, along with a review from Why So Blu’s Brian White HERE). A few weeks ago, I was given the chance to interview Wright, Pegg, and Frost and was very excited to do so. Continue on to see my video interview with the guys and see how much fun can be had just by sitting in a room with them.

The Way, Way Back is the coming of age story of 14-year-old Duncan’s (Liam James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her overbearing boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and his daughter, Steph (Zoe Levin). Having a rough time fitting in, the introverted Duncan finds an unexpected friend in Owen (Sam Rockwell), the gregarious manager of the Water Wizz Water Park. Through his funny, clandestine friendship with Owen, Duncan slowly opens up to and begins to finally find his place in the world – all during a summer he will never forget. This film is the directorial debut for Academy Award winners Nat Faxon and Jim Rash (The Descendants) and this is last of four posts where you will hear what the cast and crew had to say about being a part of the film.

On June 5th, 2013, I was happy to attend a double feature of films by Sofia Coppola at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica. Of her films, the features played were Lost In Translation and The Virgin Suicides. In between features, Coppola showed up to participate in a Q&A, where she was open to answering all sorts of questions regarding her films, her directorial style, and approach to different features. I was able to record this conversation and am pleased to be able to present it in its entirety in this post. Continue on to listen to the entire Q&A and learn more about this fun event.

Following The Mist, I was also able to attend another very entertaining scheduled event at the Hero Complex Film Festival, a back-to-back screening of the The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth. Both are films written and directed by Guillermo del Toro, who provided an hour-long Q&A in between features. For anyone who is familiar with Guillermo del Toro, they would know that he is one of the most entertaining directors to listen to, as he is always full of passion for his projects and isn’t one to censor himself (not to mention his wonderful Mexican accent). This entire conversation has been recorded and provided in a link. Read on to learn more about what he had to say about his past films, his career as a filmmaker, his personal life, and his upcoming feature films, most notably Pacific Rim (Post Updated with latest Pacific Rim trailer).

I was happy to be able to attend the Hero Complex Film Festival in Hollywood this year and check out a few of the events that were on the lineup. For me, the first scheduled event that I took part in was a screening of The Mist (an original 35mm print) followed by a Q&A. Initially I was led to believe that only writer/director Frank Darabont would be in attendance, but I was happy to see that star Tom Jane was also on hand to discuss this 2007 horror film. As a big fan of The Mist, I was very excited to check out the film with an audience, my first time on the big screen since Thanksgiving 2007 (an amazing release date for this of all films). Read on to learn more about what went down at this Q&A, as well as find the entire recording of this conversation.

On Saturday, October 20th, at LA Live Regal Cinema, John Carpenter was present at the 12th Annual Screamfest to receive a Career Achievement Award and to be a part of a Q&A before a screening of one of his films, The Prince of Darkness, which was celebrating its 25th Anniversary. John Carpenter has of course had a lengthy career, largely working on the outside of the Hollywood system to make movies on his own terms. He has also been responsible for several classics and game changers in the horror genre, including Halloween and The Thing. I was in attendance at the Q&A and managed to record all of it, which is posted in this article along with images of the 13 exclusive posters that were for sale at Screamfest on this day. Proceed further to hear this Q&A and check out the awesome posters that were on the scene. Continue reading ‘Screamfest 2012: John Carpenter Q&A And Original Artwork’
