Movies about people with a compulsion tend to work for me. While it is frustrating to see the lead characters make decisions that you know are going to hurt them in some way, I am compelled to see how they deal with the fallout of their actions. Mississippi Grind is a fine film about two guys that attempt to win big and all the drama that comes with the thrill of the game. The film stars Ben Mendelsohn and Ryan Reynolds and it is now on Blu-ray for anyone with interest to enjoy.

Emmy® winner David Simon is responsible for some of the best, must-see programming in HBO history (The Wire, Treme) and his latest creation, the six-part miniseries Show Me a Hero, is yet another example of “essential viewing” (Los Angeles Times). The miniseries is a story of home, race and community that follows the young mayor of Yonkers, NY (Oscar Isaacs) who must usher the city through a highly contentious government mandate to build affordable housing in its white neighborhoods. Based on the critically acclaimed nonfiction book by Lisa Belkin, Show Me a Hero will be available to own on Digital HD January 4, 2016 and on Blu-ray and DVD February 2, 2016. The box sets include an extended making-of featurette and the Digital HD includes a recording of a Department of Housing and Urban Development panel featuring Simon.

With Nazi Adolf Eichmann’s trial airing in living rooms across America, Milgram’s exploration of authority and conformity strikes a nerve in popular culture and the scientific community. Celebrated in some circles, he is also accused of being a deceptive, manipulative monster. His wife Sasha (Winona Ryder) anchors him through it all. Ben Affleck appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” Wednesday night to premiere the latest trailer for the highly anticipated 2016 film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The three minute long trailer included an all-out brawl between Henry Cavill’s Superman and Affleck’s Batman. The brief peek also included other DC stars like Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor, and what appears to be our first look at the villain Doomsday (made from you know who). I’m just so excited at the release of this trailer I had to put together a review! Here you’ll get a little background on the “Civil War” story from the comics as well as a some theories on what we’ve seen so far in the this first trailer. This is the day that MANY a nerd has been waiting for!
