Here’s one I missed in the theaters a few months back. And here’s the 411 on what it’s all about…my man Eli! An international goodwill mission goes terrifyingly wrong in The Green Inferno, the highly anticipated return to classic cult horror from iconic director Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel 1&2 ), available on Digital HD December 22, 2015 and Blu-ray and DVD as well as On Demand on January 5, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. The Green Inferno is a gruesomely spectacular journey into the heart of darkness that will have audiences on the edge of their seats. This isn’t just a live concert for The Motels, it’s actually a celebration of the 50th anniversary for the historical LA rock club, “The Whiskey a Go-Go”. The show opens with an introduction from Rosanna Arquette and Linda Perry. Arquette gives a brief description of the history of the “Whiskey” followed by Linda offering up a cheeky tale of her fondness for Martha Davis and her music. Most live concert home videos show the band ready and on stage with their Instruments set up and prepped. But in this case they actually show the band gradually walk on stage minus Martha Davis. I thought that was a really cool way to open the show as it really gives you the feeling that you’re in the crowd waiting with anticipation as the house lights dim, the stages lights come on, and the show begins.

Scream Factory presents a double dose of science-fiction fun with The Dungeonmaster & Eliminators in their Blu-ray debuts on December 15, 2015. This release comes complete with a new interview with director Peter Manoogian. Call me crazy, but I’m actually very excited for this release. Both are pretty culty schlock classics that deliver in the best ways. I have been hoping and anticipating Scream Factory to upgrade The Dungeonmaster, and the double feature releases back this summer that promoted a handful of the titles that shared a previous 4-movie marathon release to Blu-ray. And now, here it is. Looks like The Vagrant and Contamination .7 (Also known as one of the fake Troll 3 film) are just sitting waiting for a double feature now. I’m pretty sure nobody really cares if What’s the Matter With Helen? ever makes the jump.

A family has been hiding in an underground bunker for almost year as they live in constant fear of a dangerous entity that lives on the surface. The story takes place in the small town of Kingsville. Though they never really tell you which State it is, Alexander Skarsgard does try to effect a bit of a southern accent that sounds somewhat Virginian. This is the kinda movie that relies pretty heavily on the big reveal of it’s titular villain. And being that this is such a small film, there isn’t too much that I can say without spoiling it. This is probably one of the smallest Sci-fi films I’ve ever seen. And by small I mean most of the movie takes place underground in a space the size of two living rooms pushed together!

I’ve seen a few episodes of the first season and I gotta admit I really wasn’t impressed. The whole over-the-top concept seemed really silly to me. There were also a few story-lines in the first season that seemed rather forced and generic. But I feel like this go-round they’re really trying to develop and endear you to the characters. The special effects have also taken a step up in quality. Particularly the practical effects. The prosthetics and make up meld seamlessly with the computer generated effects as well. Without giving too much away there is one character who, let’s say, has a split personality and you would think that the use of digital effects would distract you from what’s going on, but they really do a good job of keeping you engaged in the story and the show in general.
