Anchor Bay and Scream Factory have unveiled the art to their joint ventured and insanely impressive Halloween box set combining every film in the series with 15 discs of content. And yeah, it’s really awesome. This art just says “Who cares if your set was first, Freddy?”, “Suck on that tin case, Jason”, “Haha, cute, Chucky. Thanks for trying.” This is why the independent distributors need to get ahold of these type of titles if the big studio isn’t gonna put forth an effort. This incredibly groovy set (which likely already has a downpayment on my #1 spot for my 2014 Best of list) comes out September 23rd. Pre-order it below (thanks to those who already have, you’re awesome!). I’ll quit yapping, so you can scope out this awesome spectacle! Continue reading ‘BEHOLD! HALLOWEEN: THE COMPLETE COLLECTION Box Art Revealed!’

Happy Friday the 13th, Why So Blu’ers! Tonight, for FREE(!!!) Scream Factory will have a live communal streaming screening of the 1980s fright classic NIGHT OF THE DEMONS. You all already know I love this movie and highly recommend it, so I’ll spare you the gloating. But, I joined in last Friday when the Drive-In series did Assault On Precinct 13 and it was a total blast. They show vintage trailers and commercials like you would an actual Drive-In. Plus the film is intercut with brand new interview materials with the director. So last week you got some fresh John Carpenter speak, tonight you’ll get Kevin Tenney (who is actually an underrated director to hear speak). The fun starts at 10pm on the east coast and 7pm for the west coasters. Tune-in and tweet your socks off while you enjoy a top notch communal presentation of a top notch 80s horror flick! Angela invites you to the party of NIGHT OF THE DEMONS! Continue reading ‘TUNE IN TONIGHT: Summer Of Fear Drive In Presents – NIGHT OF THE DEMONS’

Come on, it was baffling that Ghostbusters II had yet to make it to Blu-ray. Its seems strange it took til now to get a set of 1 & 2 on Blu-ray. But, hit the 30 year anniversary of the original film and things like this can happen. You may remember when I did my original wishlist piece back in November this was on it and I mentioned the 30 year anniversary being key. Well, folks, the good folks at Sony sure do subscribe to Brandon’s Blu-ray Wishlist as evidenced by this upcoming set. And hey, you get the 4K remasters of the first film as well. This is pretty exciting, read more about it below! And besides, this is more exciting than anything pertaining to a Ghostbusters 3 anyway. We don’t need that, we do need this! Remember on the The Final Terror spec piece when I say its cool that its coming from VHS to Blu-ray and then said there’s an even bigger deal and to “just wait”. Today is that bigger deal. In what I think is possibly the biggest and most important release of the summer, Scream Factory is bringing Without Warning to home video for the first time ever. This cult classic film never even made it to VHS or BETA. As a collector of home video media most of my life, this is a BIG BIG deal. I really think there should be more excitement coming with this, but I do realize we’re talking a “cult classic”, so at least I know there’s a chunk who is. Today we have the specs for the release as well as the preorder link. Continue reading ‘Sci Fi/Horror Cult Classic WITHOUT WARNING Coming To Blu-ray August 5th!’

When The Sopranos debuted in 1999, its story of a modern-day mob boss juggling responsibilities between his family and his other “family” was like nothing that TV critics and viewers had ever seen. The series went on to win more than 20 Emmy® Awards throughout its run, including wins for its legendary cast members such as James Gandolfini and Edie Falco. This fall, fans and newcomers alike will have the opportunity to see the show like never before when The Sopranos: The Complete Series Blu-ray with Digital HD debuts for the first time on November 4, 2014. The BD set includes an exclusive feature full of new interviews with cast and crew, along with famous filmmakers and academics who explore how the acclaimed series transformed the television landscape. Wow! What can I say about this feature(s) that hasn’t been said before. There’s a million and one ways I can spin this. Am I curious about it? Hell yeah I am. Am I scared of it? Honestly, I am a little bit. I really don’t know what to expect except (those two words look so weird together) a whole lot of nudity. But that’s not necessarily a bad thing is it? Haha! So we all know that Lars Von Trier’s controversial Nymphomaniac: Volume I and Volume II is coming to Blu-ray, but now we also know what to expect in the releases too this July 8th, which coincidentally is my dog’s 13th birthday (with hopefully many more healthy ones to come…knock on wood). So while you get busy by clicking on the pre-order link below make sure you check out the bonus supplements below too! Enjoy! Of course when I heard there was a slasher musical I jumped on top of it. I’m looking forward to revisiting this one as I was sort of lukewarm on it the first time. The film starts off on fire and is everything you were wanting to to be when you hear about a musical slasher film. But, then it tails off and just keeps digging itself down a less interesting hole. Magnolia is bringing it to Blu-ray on July 8th, so you can pre-order it and read the details of the release in the little blurb they sent me below!
