Freda Kelly was just a shy Liverpudlian teenager when she was asked to work for a local band hoping to make it big. Though she had no concept of how far they would go, Freda had faith in The Beatles from the beginning and The Beatles had faith in her. Many people came in and out of the band’s circle as they grew to international stardom, but Freda remained a staple because of her unfaltering loyalty and dedication. As The Beatles’ devoted secretary and friend, Freda was there as history unfolded; she was witness to the evolution – advances and setbacks, breakthroughs and challenges – of the greatest band in history. For the first time in 50 years, Freda shares her story. Continue reading ‘‘Good Ol’ Freda’ on Blu-ray and DVD December 3rd!’

Jon Martello (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a handsome, good old-fashioned guy known as Don Jon for his ability to bed beautiful women at will. But ironically, even the finest fling doesn’t compare to the bliss Jon finds alone—watching porn on his computer. Barbara Sugarman (Scarlett Johansson) is a gorgeous, good old-fashioned girl raised on romantic movies, and she’s determined to find her Prince Charming. Wrestling with expectations of the opposite sex, Jon and Barbara struggle against false fantasies to find true intimacy in this unexpected comedy written and directed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And that’s just the synopsis! I really had fun with this one and I’m looking forward to it’s home video release on New Years Eve! Check out the full details below! Luke (Johnson) and Kate (Wilde) are co-workers at a Chicago brewery, where they spend their days drinking and flirting. They’re perfect for each other, except that they’re both in relationships. Luke is in the midst of marriage talks with his girlfriend of six years (Kendrick), Kate is playing it cool with her music producer boyfriend Chris (Livingston). But you know what makes the line between “friends” and “more than friends” really blurry? Beer. Olivia Wilde, Anna Kendrick, and craft brew? That sounds like a party to me! Last week saw the debut of the trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. This week is all about X-Men: Days of Future Past, the latest mutant adventure, which will be based around one of the most iconic stories from X-Men comic series. The most intriguing part of all of this is how this film will be utilizing actors from practically every X-Men film made so far. It makes sense from a story standpoint, for those familiar with the comic, but I can only hope it does not hurt the film, given that the biggest issue has always been the hefty number of characters in each film and finding the right balance. That said, this trailer has done a very convincing job of making me worry less. Sure the enthusiasm I took from San Diego Comic Con was a good way to get me more on board, let alone teaser images of Sentinels, but I am quite excited all around for the release of this new X-Men film, in May 2014. Continue on to view the trailer as well as a load of images from the film.

With Iron Man 3 sitting as the highest grossing film of the year and Thor: The Dark World just around the corner and building some great buzz, Marvel’s Phase 2 is certainly off an running. Now we have the first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which looks to be just as exciting and in line with the other fun that Marvel Studios has offered up in recent years. Based on this trailer and the footage screened at San Diego Comic Con this past summer, the film certainly seems to be keeping in step with what comes next, following the events of The Avengers, while also creating its own identity. If The First Avenger was a pulpy, throwback superhero film, mixed with some war movie aesthetics, The Winter Soldier has more of an espionage-themed vibe, mixed with some pretty large-scale action. Regardless, as fellow Why So Blu writers Sean Ferguson, Brandon Peters, and I were big fans of Cap’s first outing, this next adventure can’t come soon enough. Check out the rest of this post to view the trailer, along with some posters and images from the film.

Taiwanese pop sensation Jay Chou (The Green Hornet, The Viral Factor), drawing on his years as an actor, director, and recording star, creates a fantasy playground of music, moves, and magic as a backdrop to an action comedy which pays homage to the wondrous musicals of the past, while exploding to life with today’s sound and spirit in THE ROOFTOP, debuting on Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital December 10th from Well Go USA Entertainment. Described as “Writer-director Chou’s ambitious Luhrmann-esque merging of musical numbers, kung fu, vaudeville and dippy romance is set in a candy-colored world with a deliberately retro vibe. (Think afros, polyester, vintage cars and bowling.)” by The Los Angeles Times, Chou composed 11 original tunes for this buoyant musical. In addition to Chou, THE ROOFTOP stars Alan Ko (Goodbye May), Eric Tsang (Ip Man: The Final Fight), Wang Xue Qi (Iron Man 3, Reign of Assassins), Fan Xu (Saving General Yang, Back to 1942), and newcomer Hsin Ai Lee.
