Hansel & Gretel Slay The Blu-ray Format on June 11th

Honestly, I’m not sure what to expect with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.  And to be completely honest, I’m only wanting to see it for one exclusive reason…the beautiful Tamara Drewe…oops I mean Gemma Arterton is in it.  Basically…you put her in anything and I will want to watch it.  Even Evil Dead!  Heck…even Famke Jansen is in it.  Now I have two reasons. Oh yeah…there’s that Hawkeye guy too.  And guess what folks.  The film grossed 200 million and a sequel has already been green lit.  So how bad can it be?  I wanna see!!!  But in the meantime, how about you hitting up the pre-order link below and checking out the full press release from Paramount?  That’s an order! ‘Wilfred’ Season 2: The Dog And His Man Return The June on Blu-ray

Wilfred is a strange sort of show that has a pretty strong following for a remake of an Australian series that happens to feature a grown-up man in a dog costume, who likes to get high with his best friend; a human named Ryan, played by Elijah Wood.  With all of that said, it is a strange sort of show that I really like, especially in its second season, which was much stronger than the first.  While Louie remains my favorite thing currently on FX (with Justified close behind), Wilfred certainly upped its game this past season and I look forward to revisiting it.  On June 18^th, everyone will have a chance to bring Wilfred home with them, as it will be released onto Blu-ray.  Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.

Disney/Pixar’s Finding Dory to Dive into Theaters November 25, 2015!

Aside from Blu-ray press releases, these WonderCon posts over the past few days, and upcoming posts for Comic Con this year, I generally do not post various movie news and announcements for upcoming features, sticking to the reviews instead.  That said, Finding Nemo is one of my favorite Pixar films and seeing news about the upcoming sequel does bring me a fair level of excitement, as I have a feeling it will be more in line with Toy Story 2 rather than Cars 2 (a film I did not hate like others, by the way).  The film now has a title and a hint at what the story is about, so read on to learn more abou the upcoming Finding Dory.

WonderCon 2013: Superman: Unbound (Movie Review)

Friday night at WonderCon, audiences got to witness premiere of the new animated Superman film, Superman: Unbound.  This is another entry in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies series, presented by Warner Bros., which has previously released films such as Batman: Under the Red Hood, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Green Lantern: First Flight, and Wonder Woman.  For the most part, these animated adaptations of various DC superheroes and some of their most well-known stories have been pretty good, so I was excited to check out this new feature.  I say that in a somewhat surprising manner for myself, because Superman is not a character I tend to enjoy that much.  I only believe the character to be as interesting as the story that is written for him, so the fact that this film would revolve around Brainiac, one of Superman’s greatest foes, had my curiosity for sure.  Fortunately, this was a mighty enjoyable film, thanks to the work done by many involved.

Breaking Bad: The Fifth Season Cooks on Blu-ray This June

I have to admit, I never heard much about this show other than my reviewer Aaron Neuwirth mentioning it over the past 4 years.  Best Buy had a sale this past winter on the Blu-ray sets.  I said what the heck and bought seasons one and two.  I was hooked.  And then much to my surprise, every one around me was too and we were all talking about it like religious fanatics.  I even bought the digital files last December to catch all the way up with Season 5.  And that’s my lead in to today’s topic…Breaking Bad: The Fifth Season has a Blu-ray release date.  And that date…drum roll please…is June 4th.  The Blu-ray will feature such bonuses as cast and crew commentaries, all-new featurettes, outtakes, deleted scenes, audition and rehearsal footage and much much more.  I can tell you all about this, but why don’t you read the facts below.  You know you wanna! Dwayne Johnson Stars In ‘Snitch’ Arriving This June On Blu-ray

Dwayne Johnson stars in the action-packed thriller, Snitch arriving on Blu-ray Disc (plus Digital Copy and Ultraviolet), DVD (plus Digital Copy and Ultraviolet), Digital Download, Video on Demand and Pay-Per-View June 11 from Summit Entertainment, a LIONSGATE company.  I did not get a chance to watch Snitch in theaters, but I do like Dwayne Johnson and given that he’s starring in several films this year, I guess it only makes sense that I catch them all, right?  Well, regardless, the film has a more interesting premise than the average action film, and I have heard things that suggest this is closer to being a character drama than an action film.  I will find out this June I guess and really see how strong a film this is for The Rock.  Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.

WonderCon 2013: This Is The End

Recently, we have seen films like 2012, Melancholia, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, and even Children of Men, to an extent, depict what it would be like to see the world come to an end.  Just to round things out, I guess, we now have the version of that story in a movie that stars comic actors Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Michael Cera, and many more.  WonderCon had a panel devoted to This Is The End, an apocalyptic comedy starring all of these guys as themselves, written and directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.  Read on to find out what went on at this hilarious panel. WonderCon 2013: Evil Dead

Many of my friends know that I love The Evil Dead trilogy, the cult horror films from director Sam Raimi (Spider-Man, Oz The Great and Powerful) and star Bruce Campbell.  I watch all three films (The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2, and Army of Darkness) back-to-back-to-back every year in October, involving as many people as I can in the process.  The idea of remaking The Evil Dead could seem like something that I would be entirely against, but I was willing to hear it out, as Raimi, Cambpell, and producer Rob Tapert were the ones that wanted to do it.  Essentially, if it had their blessing, I would be down for a new take on “The ultimate experience in grueling terror” (original tag line for the first film).  Fortunately, everything I have been seeing and hearing so far has me quite excited, which is why I was looking forward to this panel for the film, taking place a week before its theatrical release.  Read on to learn more about what went down at this WonderCon panel.

WonderCon 2013: Pacific Rim

Saturday was considered the most important day for WonderCon, at least as far as movie geeks were concerned, but the presentation for the new film from director Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, Pan’s Labyrinth), the giant robots versus giant monsters movie known as Pacific Rim, was easily one of the most anticipated events of the whole weekend.  While the no one from the cast made an appearance, people familiar with Guillermo del Toro should know well enough that he does not need a whole lot of help from others to really have him deliver an entertaining panel, given his charismatic personality, wonderful Mexican accent, and his hilarious use of swear words when talking about his passions.  Read on to learn more about what audiences were treated to as far as Pacific Rim is concerned, with its summer release date looming on the horizon.

WonderCon 2013: The Conjuring

A quick introduction, as this is my first WonderCon 2013 article, I will have been in attendance all weekend for WonderCon at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California and hope to bring plenty of cool info regarding several upcoming films.  First up is the new film from director James Wan (Saw, Insidious) called The Conjuring.  This film is a supernatural horror movie based on a true story and James Wan came to Anaheim to present his thoughts on the film and show off some footage.  He also brought with him the actual people whom this story is based on.  Read on to learn more about this upcoming horror film, arriving in theaters this summer.

WonderCon 2013: MATT KINDT’S MIND MGMT GETS WEIRD

Looks like Dark Horse had a double dose of comic news to deliver, so here’s another WonderCon-related announcement.  Matt Kindt’s MIND MGMT is apparently a much buzzed about comic series and with various movie-related announcements coming its way it should also be known that this series is now set to run 36 issues, with a new arc starting in July.  For those unaware, MIND MGMT is the story is about Meru, a true crime writer who searches for the truth behind a mysterious airline flight and discovers a secret government agency of super spies, espionage, and psychic abilities.  It also concerns Henry Lyme, the former top agent, who has gone rogue and is working to dismantle the organization.  Read more to learn more about the new announcements regarding this series.

WonderCon 2013: GAGERMAN & WALLER’S BLOOD BROTHERS – BEST FRIENDS…FOREVER

Dark Horse has announced a new comic miniseries that I could potentially check out.  I wish I had the time to be deeper into comics than I currently am right now, but I do what I can.  With that said, this new miniseries sounds pretty intriguing.  A vampire buddy action comic, with inspiration coming from the likes of Lethal Weapon.  That sounds like the kind of fun I could get behind, were I to have the time.  Regardless, read on to learn more about Blood Brothers, a new comic miniseries that has a presence at WonderCon 2013, even though the full issues will not start hitting until this July.

Take a Visit to ‘A Haunted House’ on Blu-ray This April

We’ve all seen these trailers, right?  Seems like there are like three of the same films.  But wait!  This one looks the best of all the spoofs I have seen.  Popularizing off the success of the Paranormal Activity franchise, the Wayans and Universal are bringing their comedic spoof, A Haunted House, to the Blu-ray format on April 23rd, complete with a Combo Pack that also includes a DVD, UltraViolet and Digital Copy.  Kudos to Universal for still providing all three.  And most importantly, as of late, their Digital Copies have been of HD quality too.  So thank you Universal.  You make this man proud.  So won’t you make me proud too by checking out the full press release below and pre-ordering your copy now to help support our site.  A million and one thanks! It’s ‘A Good Day To Die Hard’ On Blu-ray & Digital HD

Today was such a stellar day.  How do you top it?  Let’s see…first there was the Blu-ray release of The Collection.  Second there was the $9.99 sale of Moulin Rouge in HD on the iTunes store.  And third…there was the announcement of the iPhone on T-Mobile’s network that will offer a no contract monthly plan of just $70 for unlimited everything.  How can you top all those majestic things that happened during the course of today?  I know!  How about a Blu-ray announcement?  And not just any announcement.  A huge franchise announcement! Jason Statham Hits Hard On Blu This May With ‘Parker’

On May 21^st Parker comes home to Blu-ray, DVD, and UltraViolet.  This is the action-heist film starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez.  I missed Parker when it was in theaters, but I do look forward to checking it out.  I like Jason Statham and what he generally brings to action movies, so a film starring him as Parker, a character from the popular pulp novels by Donald Westlake could be a lot of fun.  I will get to find out soon enough, as the film will be available for all this May, and it will plenty of bonus features, including some Blu-ray exclusives.  Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.

Oz The Great And Powerful – Opening Title Sequence

Oz The Great and Powerful is currently out in theaters and making a lot of money.  This is the Sam Raimi directed film, starring James Franco as Oscar Diggs, the man who would travel to the land of Oz and realize his destiny, while also interacting with three witches played by Michelle Williams, Rachel Weisz, and Mila Kunis.  I thought the film was a lot of fun, despite some of my issues with it (review HERE).  One of the aspects I enjoyed the most about it was Raimi’s choice to blend a lot of modern sensibilities with a lot of the practically achieved wonder of old fashioned circus acts.  This is best represented in the extraordinary opening title sequence, which has now been made available online for people to see.  Continue on to check out this fantastic title sequence (which looked great in 3D, by the way).
