The World’s End is upon us! By that I mean the new film from co-writer/director Edgar Wright, co-writer/star Simon Pegg, and star Nick Frost. The World’s End is a sci-fi comedy, which brings a trilogy to a close. This would be the “Three Flavors Cornetto Trilogy” or the “Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy” that also includes the Rom-Zom-Com, Shaun of the Dead, along with the high-octane, action-buddy-comedy Hot Fuzz. I am a huge fan of both of these films and found The World’s End to be a fitting close to this trio (My review can be found HERE, along with a review from Why So Blu’s Brian White HERE). A few weeks ago, I was given the chance to interview Wright, Pegg, and Frost and was very excited to do so. Continue on to see my video interview with the guys and see how much fun can be had just by sitting in a room with them.

I remember this film, the 1995 one, as fondly as I do like it was my first time listening to Nirvana. Alyssa Milano was my Nirvana on DVD. Embrace of the Vampire, the cult classic it is, was one of the first DVDs I owned and wow…my standard definition TV screen never looked so good. And now almost 20 years later there’s a re-magining of the film. While it’s a matter of time as to whether or not it will ever live up to Milano’s version there’s one thing I know for sure. I’m looking forward with much anticipation to owning the original on Blu-ray and more importantly…seeing Alyssa Milano’s beauty (and her body of course) in 1080p. But I digress, Let’s take a closer look at this exciting news by checking out Anchor Bay’s full press release below. Enjoy! This past season of Mad Men continued to live on the fact that these characters are established well enough that we can just let them run wild in the 60s. The previous season may have been a tad better, but I love Mad Men and the series continues to be fantastic all around. Much to the irritation of others, people watching the series week after week would be posting non-stop about the show, with questions like “Who is Bob Benson” cluttering up news feeds. On November 5th, anyone will be able to find out about this Bob Benson character and more with the entire 6th season on Blu-ray, packed with extra features and what I assume are amazing looking discs to really show off the series’ production values. Read on to learn more about what is happening with Don Draper and the gang on this upcoming Blu-ray set.

So a sequel to the 2011
Fright Night is arriving on Blu-ray this October. The remake was a film that I actually really enjoyed quite a bit and while that film was a flop at the box office, for whatever reason, a direct-to-Blu-ray release sequel is on its way. I know I should not be too excited about this, but I do enjoy this universe and am intrigued enough by seeing another iteration of this story play out. The added fun of Jaime Murray (
Dexter,
Spartacus: Gods of the Arena) to the mix could make for a decent way to spend 90 minutes. On October 1st everyone will have the chance to find out for themselves, so read on to learn a bit more about this upcoming release.

Long before Comedy Central began generating ratings and headlines with their over-the-top roasts, one entertainment icon was pioneering the format with “The Dean Martin Show.” In 1973, the 10-year-old NBC variety show retooled in its final season and introduced a new feature: the “Man of the Week Celebrity Roast.” Patterned after the roasts held at the New York City’s famous Friars Club, Dean Martin’s Roasts quickly became a favorite with television audiences and eventually evolved to become a network series, “The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts.” And beginning with a skewering of comedy legend Bob Hope on October 31, 1974, the program would go on to become a fixture on NBC for the next 11 years. Featuring all 54 roasts from both “The Dean Martin Show” and “The Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts,” the program’s notable roastees included many of the 20th century’s most accomplished performers and athletes, politicians and personalities (complete list below), including: Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Carson, Sammy Davis Jr., Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, Jackie Gleason, George Burns, Don Rickles, Kirk Douglas, Danny Thomas, Gabe Kaplan, Hank Aaron, Wilt Chamberlin, Joe Namath, Muhammad Ali, Ronald Reagan and Dean Martin himself. It was to my dismay in recent days when I was home for lunch and found a black screen when I turned on Showtime. It wasn’t that moment that provided the maligned surprise as I’ll occasionally get the same black screen when I turn on ESPN at times. This is usually corrected by waiting a minute or so, or going to another channel, then flipping back, except this time, flipping back did not provide the desired effect. Instead, I was introduced to this message of doom…

A few years ago I was incredibly excited for the arrival of a new movie about the Muppets. When it finally came out, I was so delighted by it. The Muppets was one of my favorite films of that year. The film had a great warmth about it, some wonderful songs, and plenty of other reasons to be happy about it. Fortunately, it was successful enough to make way for a sequel and that time is coming closer. Next spring, The Muppets Most Wanted arrives in theaters and today marks the release of the first trailer for the film. It features the main cast of this time around, which includes Ricky Gervais, Tina Fey, and Ty Burrell, along with Kermit, Miss Piggy, and all the other Muppets of course. Continue on to check out this brand new teaser, along with some images from the film.
