IDW Publishing is thrilled to announce another project in their ongoing partnership with comics legend Kevin Eastman! LOST ANGELES is an action-packed, science-fiction collaboration with fellow comics luminaries Simon Bisley and Joe Pearson. When all hell breaks loose following a massive comet’s near miss, the sprawling metropolis of Los Angeles is irreparably fractured and claimed by legions of brutal gangs. Perpetually turf-thirsty bands of fierce warriors fight day in and day out to claim blood and respect across swaths of scarce land, battered by cosmically twisted disasters. As civilization recedes into uncompromising tribal life, an anomaly surfaces: two rival gang members, Mikal and Angel, find themselves in the throes of a comet-crossed love affair. Threatening to tear their respective clans apart from within, their love becomes the centerpiece to all-out gang war as LOST ANGELES reaches its fever-pitched conclusion over six issues. Announced earlier this year, noted comics creator and musician Alan Robert (Crawl to Me, the band Life of Agony) is returning with KILLOGY, an insane new series from IDW Publishing that features some familiar faces! Frank Vincent (Goodfellas, Raging Bull, The Sopranos), Marky Ramone (formerly of The Ramones), and Brea Grant (Heroes, Dexter, We Will Bury You) lead the cast of KILLOGY as three inveterate murderers thrown in the same cell! It’s safe to say there’s a warden out there who’s going to be out of a job. A comic that marches to a different beat, KILLOGY is a mayhem-laden mixture of gritty crime, grisly horror, and dark comedy. Suffice it to say, with a combination like that, no prison could hold it! Good Charlotte guitarist Billy Martin can now add another accomplishment to his already impressive résumé. A graphic artist, clothing designer and guitarist, Martin will now turn his considerable talents to comics. IDW Publishing is proud to announce VITRIOL THE HUNTER, an all-new comic book series co-written by Martin and Brent Allen, featuring interior art by Martin. “This book has travelled everywhere I have on tour over the last few years,” Martin said. “I’ve had a light table and art supplies set up on countless busses and hotel rooms across the world.” Scheduled to launch in early 2013, VITRIOL THE HUNTER is co-created by Martin and Allen, and draws on the folklore and old monster myths prevalent in today’s society, twisting them into a macabre-style story reminiscent of classic horror movies crossed with futuristic fantasy. The third title in Valiant’s comeback has been out less than a week, but Bloodshot is already making some waves with its explosive entry back into the comic book fray. But has the new first issue of this gun-toting title lived up to the hype, or is it just a bunch of overly spoken potential of anticipation and not so much the book’s content? Let me put it this way…

Wrangling fierce supernatural beasts is a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it! The adventures of Scottie and Howie—the animal control specialists who got in a little over their heads in Stephan Nilson and Charles Pritchett’s 2011 graphic novel THE POUND—are set to continue this September from IDW Publishing! Teaming with artist Ibrahim Moustafa, Nilson and Pritchett are bringing THE POUND back for four issues of things that go bump in the night, featuring the brave (and exhausted) guys who chase them through Cleveland’s darkest corners. When Animal Control specialists Scottie and Howie were laid off by the City of Cleveland and went into business for themselves, they never could have guessed they’d be tangling with werewolves! Acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro and novelist Chuck Hogan bring their New York Times best-selling series of novels, the Strain Trilogy, to Dark Horse Comics with an ongoing adventure that takes a terrifying spin on the vampire genre. Renowned comics creator David Lapham (Stray Bullets, Silverfish) and artist Mike Huddleston (The Coffin, Butcher Baker) join forces in this comic book adaptation unlike any other—bringing del Toro and Hogan’s vision to life in a story that casts a deadly plague over the whole of humanity. The Strain Volume 1, collecting issues #1–#6 of this ongoing series, is a horror story unlike any other! When a Boeing 777 lands at JFK International Airport and goes dark on the runway, the Centers for Disease Control, fearing a terrorist attack, calls in Dr. Ephraim Goodweather and his team of expert biological-threat first responders. Only an elderly pawnbroker from Spanish Harlem suspects a darker purpose behind the event—an ancient threat intent on covering mankind in darkness. Image Comics is a proverbial hotbed for under-the-radar titles that, despite their lack of initial popularity, prove to be at least decent reads if not better. Last week saw another such release in the form of the first issue of Grim Leaper.

Just when you thought DC’s launch of the New 52 was long done and over, readers get treated to an extension of that with this week’s release of Batman Annual #1. The title comes to us amidst the very solid ‘Night of the Owls’ story arc currently taking place throughout many DC titles while also featuring one very ‘chilling’ origin.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, Image Comics shows no signs of slowing down, especially with its release of new titles every year. One in particular is the brand new series Dancer. The Spider-Man saga started quite a long time ago…1962 to be exact, and since then, everyone’s favorite web slinger has seen just about all there is to see within the pages of a comic book. Plus, the guy’s abilities are pretty impressive, so needless to say his enemies have been out to harness that for some time now. One successful attempt at that has led to the recently released series, Scarlet Spider.

Last week I released a story covering the rebirth of Valiant Comics along with reboot mentions of some of their best selling titles from the 1990’s. With X-O Manowar being the publisher’s flagship title back in the day, they made a common sense decision making the one-man army their first release in 2012. So was this do-over worth the read? Was the art worth a second look? You know the drill. Read on to check out the new Valiant’s exciting first release.

It was back in the 90’s when Valiant Comics lived the good life before tapering off into oblivion. With a variety of titles to their credit including Archer & Armstrong, Harbinger, and Ninjak, their hottest book was arguably X-O Manowar. After the company changed hands and then practically fell off the face of the earth, its glory days may be resurfacing this year as the new-look Valiant makes its debut on Free Comic Book Day, May 1st, with the relaunch of X-O Manowar, which will be written by Robert Venditti (who also wrote The Surrogates books, which later became a popular Bruce Willis film) and penicilled by artist Cary Nord (Marvel Comics Presents).
