Aaron’s Most Anticipated Films For Fall 2011

So now that we have left the summer movie season behind (a recap featuring the Why So Blu crew’s top picks can be found HERE), it is time to get into the big fall releases.  There are a lot of great looking releases on their way, including both “prestige” level films as well as those that look to be a lot of fun.  Rather than try to rank out a top ten, I have simply put these films in order of their release date, acknowledging that there is only a small chance that any of these would change.  Once again, I am using the term “fall” somewhat loosely, as I am applying it to films arriving in theaters post Labor Day and up to the end of the year.  With that said, there are enough films on the way that I have even made a long list of other notable releases below these selected titles.  Continue on to see what upcoming films have caught my eye. The Why So Blu Crew’s Favorite Flicks Of Summer 2011

So the summer movie season has come to an end, but that does not mean us here at Why So Blu can’t have one last hurrah.  With such an assortment of different films that came out this past summer (a particularly crowded one, which benefited from having a lot of good crowd pleasers to offer), I thought it would be a fun idea to have a majority of the group contribute some thoughts on their top picks for this past summer.  With that said, anyone else should feel free to submit their thoughts on the films they enjoyed most this summer in the comment section below as well.  But for now, keep reading to hear what a bunch of us had to say about our picks. Aaron’s Top 15 Most Anticipated Films of Summer 2011

So the time has come to prepare for the onslaught of summer blockbuster entertainment.  I previously put together a list of films I anticipated for the spring, and with that now out of the way, it’s time for the next stage of this year – massively large budgeted entertainment.  The number of films coming out this summer is so large that I had to add an extra five films to the list, because a top ten just wouldn’t cut it.  Once again, I use the term “summer” loosely.  I am not going by the actual start and end of the summer; I am going by the summer film season, which begins at the start of May and ends at the start of September.  As far as these choices go, the dates are subject to change, but at this point, they should mostly be sticking to these release dates.  So with all of that out of the way, let’s get to the flicks: Continue reading ‘Aaron’s Top 15 Most Anticipated Films of Summer 2011’

Aaron’s Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of Spring 2011

Here is a list of some upcoming releases that I am looking forward to the most.  While the opening beginning months of 2011 will be a bit slow, theatrically speaking, worthwhile new releases will soon pick up for the better.  I have put “spring” in the title, but let me clarify:  I am counting all movies that fall between February and up to the end of April.  The summer may start in June, but the beginning of May is when the summer movies start happening.  As far as these choices go, the dates are subject to change, but at this point, they should all be sticking to these release dates.  So with all of that out of the way, let’s get to the flicks: Continue reading ‘Aaron’s Top 10 Most Anticipated Films of Spring 2011’

Jiminy Critic’s Top Films of 2010

It seems like it’s that time of year again.  End of the year picks for the top movies, in our opinions.  Well, I am as egotistical as anyone, and like to have my views known (wink, wink), so here are my picks for the best of 2010.  I see by reading the other posters here that some of our picks are similar, while we differ on a few others.  They will come around to my way of thinking sooner or later.  Ha Ha…It was a pretty good year for movies, and here’s hoping 2011 brings even better fare.  Let me know what you think of my choices.  (Hey, at least mine are the shortest!)  Have fun!  Jiminy Critic

Gerard’s Top 10 Films of 2010

I’ve given you my Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010, now it’s time for my Top 10 list of films of 2010.  Again, I did not see every film this year, and some that are currently playing will not be watched until after the new year.  If you don’t see something that should be there, it’s because I probably did not see it or think it deserves to be on the list.  2010 was very diverse and had something for everybody.  Without further ado, I give you my top 10 films of 2010.  Enjoy! Aaron’s Top 10 Video Games of 2010

I don’t get a chance to write about video games often, so I am pleased to be able to provide a rundown of the games I have enjoyed playing the most this year.  I may not be a professional game reviewer, but I know what I like vs. what frustrates me in video games; and even in a time where my free time has dwindled (yes, part of my living involves watching movies and writing about them, but it’s still work, dammit!), I still managed to play a lot of games. Gerard’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010

Another year has come and almost gone, leaving in its wake, many Blu-rays littered about.  Some good, some not so good.  In what will be an ongoing tradition, WhySoBlu has asked for my thoughts on the best Blu-rays of the year.  The following article is MY personal top ten favorite Blu-rays of 2010 for your viewing and reading pleasure.  Please keep in mind that I have not seen or reviewed every blu-ray that has come out this year, so if you don’t see a film that you think is great that I may have missed, don’t be upset. I probably haven’t seen the Blu-ray or the post office lost my package.  Here is my list. Continue reading ‘Gerard’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010′

Gregg’s Top 10 Films of 2010

There were some highs and some lows this year (at times, some real lows) at the cinema.  Fanboys rejoiced with the revival of the Predator franchise in addition to a certain comic book sequel brought to us by Jon Favreau.  It was a year of cowboys and dragons and dancers, oh my!  January brought us Jackie Chan in The Spy Next Door, and 2010 closed out with December’s star-studded cast in True Grit.  While my top ten Blu-ray list remained somewhat consistent throughout the year, this best of cinema list jumped around like five-year old at a birthday party. Aaron’s Top 10 Best and Worst Films of 2010

I have seen a lot of movies this year, which is nothing new for me.  However, this is the first year (a year that I have been very happy with and proud of) that I have been given much more of an important task when it comes to delivering my opinions (as nonessential as some may feel they are) about the films I see.  With that being said, the following lists are, what I feel, a solid compilation of the best and worst films of the year.  I have seen a lot of very good movies, and I have also seen a lot of very bad ones.  Regardless of how good of a year this was for movies, I would say that I had a lot of options available to me when developing these lists, so enjoy. Aaron’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010

As little time as I have to actually sit at home and watch all the Blu-rays I own and check out all the special features they have to offer, there are a certain number of films that I could not pass up when it came to checking them out at my own leisure, in the comfort of my own home.  The following list is set of films that I consider to be some of the best that the Blu-ray format has had to offer for this year. Gregg’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010

Another year is almost in the books, and another year of top 10’s has already begun gracing the pages of Why So Blu.  No, not the top Ten Commandments; this bit’s about Blu-rays.  It looks like I’m up to the plate now for me to happily reveal what worked for me in 2010. There are probably some unexpected choices on here as well as others that are no surprise. Some Blu-ray releases even provided a better product than I was hoping for, which is always a welcomed change. From elves to GI’s and sports to music, the 2010 library covered the bases for me. I give you my best Blu-rays of 2010… Continue reading ‘Gregg’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010′

Sean’s Top 10 Blu-rays of 2010

Making a Top Ten list of Blu-rays was a lot harder than I thought it would be.  The fact that there’s so many excellent releases that I haven’t seen yet just made it even harder because I know a lot of them would be on my list.  So I decided to make a list of the Top 10 Blu-rays that I’ve seen and most likely reviewed, and another list of Blu-rays that I really want to see and would most likely would have been included in this list if I had seen them. Brian’s TOP 10 Blu-rays of 2010

The calendar year of 2010 in the world of Blu-ray was a pretty easy one to judge, at least In my opinion.  But when I dwell on what 2011 holds in store, I’m nearly having an aneurysm thinking about all the competition such as the “Holy Grail”of Star Wars films and Tron: Legacy, just to name a few.  That’s going to be one hell of a year for Blu-ray.  So anyway, it’s still 2010 so I will stop digressing and getting ahead of myself. Brian’s TOP 10 Films of 2010!

The calendar year of 2010 started off a little rough, in my opinion, for the world of movies.  It was a little too rough, if you don’t mind me saying.  Anyway, it was not until the month of March that I saw the first film I deemed worthy of even talking about, Shutter Island.  Needless to say, by April I really had my reservations about this year.  I was let down by Iron Man 2 and a few others I had high hopes for, but I knew (although I could not prove it at the time) that Mr. Nolan was about to conjure up something really special in Inception, so I kept my head held high in eager anticipation of being proved wrong about this lackluster calendar year.  Was I disappointed? The “Top 10” Greatest Horror Movie Weapons

“Since the dawn of the horror genre, filmmakers have consistently come up with inventive ways to chop up an endless string of damsels in distress.  They could’ve just left these film deaths to the imagination, but where’s the fun in that?  From knives to piano wire, these weapons are some of the bloodiest.”  I thought the following article, sent by us from our friends over at SPIKE TV, is the perfect way for us to kick off and celebrate my favorite upcoming holiday of the year, Halloween!  So sit back, relax and learn about all the tools of the trade.  Enjoy this one! Aaron’s Top 10 Favorite Films of the Summer 2010

So we’ve reached the end of 2010’s summer movie season, and although many are in agreement that this hasn’t been the best summer season, I still found enough films to make a solid list of what I would consider to be my favorite films of the summer.  Unfortunately the summer movie season cut off just short of the release of Machete; however, there are still a few wild genre films that managed to make it in here. The 10 Coolest Comic Book Heroes Who Need To Be in a MovieI thought this was a pretty cool article/press release I received from my friends over at Spike TV and I thought it would fit in nicely here on the site and maybe…just maybe…it would even provoke a little bit of conversation/debate on the subject.  Who needs another Hollywood super hero sequel when there are so many superheroes out there who deserve a chance on the big screen?  Check out Geoff Shakespeare’s entertaining article below.  I hope you have fun with it.  I did!
