The original Candyman is what I consider one of the absolute scariest horror films of all time. Took a while for me to feel okay with looking in a mirror at night time after seeing that movie. Tony Todd will always be associated with that role, but for good reason, he’s outstanding. As was with every horror figure around the time, they couldn’t just be one and done. Everybody gets a sequel. Candyman’s second kill spree was no where near as great as his first one (A tops horror film of all time), but its still a pretty decent movie. If you really want to see bad, then continue moving on to the third one, which was lead by Donna D’Errico (When’s the last time you heard that name?). The first Candyman isn’t available yet in the US for Blu-ray, but there is an all-region edition available. Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh, however, is kicking off the year, and getting a nice release from Scream Factory as the begin 2015. Hey, it’s that Batman documentary and we at Why So Blu tend to support all things Batman-focused, especially special projects like this! I have been interested in and covering this documentary since its Kickstarter campaign launched way back in March of 2013. Before Comic Con I was able to see the film and was eventually able to speak with the film’s writer/director, which was quite inspiring. For those unaware, Legends of the Knight is a documentary about how Batman has gone on to inspire the power of the myth of superheroes and what real life individuals have gone on to do with that line of thinking in a positive manner. It features a lot of interesting stories and interviews and the film is now coming out for everyone to own this November. Continue on to learn more about this film and its release.

We now have a title! Let’s face it, there is only speculation to be garnered from this, rather than actual news, but with the filming of Star Wars Episode VII now having been completed, there is certainly going to be more movement in spreading awareness of the next installment in what is one of the biggest franchises of all time. We may have no real details regarding the story or which actor plays who (I think Mark Hamil is Watto’s nephew or something…), but we do at least now have the title for this highly anticipated film. Is that going to lead into a brief teaser trailer in the near future? One could hope, but for now, continue on to see the official title announcement for Episode VII.

You know that expression that says “you had me at hello”? Well the same train of thought can be applied here when this title, The Guest, because it is billed as “from the creators of You’re Next.” They really did have me at hello there. Even though I have not seen The Guest yet, that one line “from the creators of You’re Next” has me wanting to see it. Call it brilliant marketing, call it what you want. It worked on me! The Guest Blu-ray Combo Pack will be released on January 6th. So in the meantime please check out the full press release down below from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. I posted about this back in September and now we have a result! The latest season of Arrested Development is coming to DVD and it now has box art designed by a fan. Feelings on this season may have been met with mixed criticism, but it does seem clear that a lot of effort went into creating something quite ambitious, rather than just being a ton of fan favorite jokes lumped into a lazy season of television. Ideally one can revisit this season and maybe admire more about this season, but regardless, continue on to see the official box art and learn more about this upcoming release.

Tusk is a film that got away from me when it was out theatrically so despite some of the negative reviews out there I really want to see it because admittedly so I liked what I saw in the trailer, but I have fallen for that trick before. Justin Long stars in the supposedly hilarious and bizarre monster movie, Tusk, arriving on Blu-ray (plus Digital HD) and DVD (plus Digital) December 30th from Lionsgate Home Entertainment. When
The Maze Runner hit theaters earlier this fall, I was feeling pretty indifferent about its potential up to the point that I finally saw it. While I would not say it is the best of this recent wave of young adult novel adaptations, it was certainly far more enjoyable than I expected (Review
HERE). The film is a fun adventure story with some very cool visuals and a story that does not over complicate things too much. It was a big enough hit to warrant a sequel, arriving next year in theaters, but before that happens, everyone can catch up with this film on Blu-ray on December 16th. Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.

There is certainly a lot of interest coming with the next installment in the Fast & Furious franchise. The unfortunate passing of Paul Walker is part of the curiosity for many, in terms of both looking at an unfortunate incident and wondering how this film will work around it, but to put that bit of sadness to the side, this is still a high octane action film that now adds the likes of Jason Statham, Tony Jaa, Djimon Hounsou, and Kurt Russell to the cast. That is pretty fantastic, as far as potential goes and based on this trailer, it looks like director James Wan (new to this franchise and formerly of Saw and Insidious fame) is out to really deliver. Continue on to check out the all-new Furious 7 trailer, see the official poster, and check out pics from the film.

I was not planning on putting out a full article on this, but a press release does make things a lot easier, so here it is: This morning, Marvel unveiled a heap of announcements regarding their upcoming films for Phase 3 of their cinematic universe. Lots of reasons for comic book and superhero movie fans to get excited, as this list of films is composed of exciting sequels, new film properties, and a chance to see some exciting comic book storylines come to life. Personally I am most excited for Black Panther (with a wonderful casting choice of Chadwick Boseman no less), but I cannot deny how epic Thor: Ragnarok is for a title of a movie, regardless of its quality. That in mind, to get a list of the films, some concept artwork, and more, continue on with this post. Updated with Images from the event and a Q&A video with Kevin Feige.

Kylie Bucknell is forced to return to the house she grew up in when the court places her on home detention. Her punishment is made all the more unbearable by the fact she has to live there with her mother Miriam – a well-intentioned blabbermouth who’s convinced that the house is haunted. Kylie dismisses Miriam’s superstitions as nothing more than a distraction from a life occupied by boiled vegetables & small-town gossip. However, when she too becomes privy to unsettling whispers & strange bumps in the night, she begins to wonder whether she’s inherited her overactive imagination, or if the house is in fact possessed by a hostile spirit who’s not particularly thrilled about her return.
