Easily one of the most anticipated films of the year, Christopher Nolan is following up The Dark Knight Rises with a film that is surely going to wow in some way. With a fantastic cast that included Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, and Michael Caine (apparently contracted to Nolan for life), this is a film that is slowly revealing its true nature, but remains ever so intriguing, based on how grounded all the footage seems so far, with only hints at the extraordinary aspects that will surely be revealed in due time. On July 29, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution will release the ultimate Blu-ray collection of the cult phenomenon from acclaimed director David Lynch and writer/producer Mark Frost: TWIN PEAKS – THE ENTIRE MYSTERY. This collection also features nearly 90 minutes of deleted/alternate scenes from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, directed by David Lynch. We have seen Sergio Leone’s masterful western trilogy – The Man with No Name Trilogy – release on Blu-ray a few times and in separate forms, but now we have a new upcoming release largely centered around the new remastered edition of The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly. While the features may largely be the same, a new transfer for one of the best westerns of all time is a good enough reason to get excited, as films like Robocop and The Terminator, among others, have certainly been done proper justice with their new remasters, as of late. I honestly forgot this was a thing, but director Kenneth Branagh continues to explore blockbuster filmmaking with a live-action feature inspired by the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella”. It will bring to life the timeless images from Disney’s 1950 animated masterpiece as fully-realized characters in a visually dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation, Disney hopes. There is now a teaser poster and teaser trailer to accompany this upcoming March 2015 release, along with some basic information about what will occur in this film. As we head closer and closer to what I am sure Michael “Boom Boom” Bay refers to as T-Day, more and more marketing materials are going to pop up to get people excited for yet another giant F-ing robots movie. It is almost like we haven’t had much of a break, given the arrival of Pacific Rim last year, let alone Hugh Jackman’s father-son rock ’em sock ’em robot sports drama Real Steel from a few years back, but Transformers: Age of Extinction is sure to be a pretty big event, given that Transformers films tend to be just that. Here’s a movie that I most regret missing, while it was in theaters. From everything I have heard, Enemy will likely be a film I end up loving, but I just could not make any of the screening dates, or catch it while it was in theaters or on VOD. Now I will have the chance, as the film hits Blu-ray on June 24th. The film reunites Jake Gyllenhaal and Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve in a story about encountering another version of one’s self. It sounds fascinating and I am exited to finally be able to check it out. Learn more about this upcoming release in this post.

To say I had fun with 300: Rise of an Empire in the theater this past March is like saying gas prices used to be cheaper. Hell yeah I had fun with this action baddie! From Eva Green showing us her goods to the bloody battles we all come to love and adorn in the genre, this second outing of the franchise is a wild, romping good time down memory lane. I thought it would be weird without Butler. Butler, who? I’m just kidding. Right from the opening sequences, this prequel/sequel makes itself known as a contender that can rightfully standalone and/or serve as a bookend to the original film. And better yet! The day is almost upon us! Warner Bros. has made it official today. June 24th! That’s right…the Blu-ray release date hovers ever closer. Scream Factory will be bringing the Betty White classic LAKE PLACID to Blu-ray on July 8th. Its going to feature a new making of featurette with plenty of returning cast and crew to look back at the film. Now, I admittedly wasn’t a big fan of this movie back in 1999. However, I’m more than willing to go back and give this one another look. Maybe I’ll be more in tune to what the movie is delivering this time. I mean, it did spawn a handful of SyFy Originals/straight-to-video films, so its got a fanbase. It’s also part of more relatively “newer” films or ones from the late 90s/early 2000s that Scream Factory is beginning to acquire and put out.
