“Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane brings his boundary-pushing brand of humor to the big screen for the first time as writer, director and voice star of Ted. In the live action/CG-animated comedy, he tells the story of John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg), a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear who came to life as the result […]

I laughed a lot during Ted. It sits next to 21 Jumps Street for me, currently, as the best pure comedy of 2012. It is a high-concept comedy that could have easily worn itself out, coming off more as an extended Saturday Night Live sketch, but it doesn’t. Ted, while profane and raunchy at times, […]

Admit it, how many of you out there growing up had a teddy bear, bunny rabbit or some sort of stuffed animal or doll as your bff? Imagine that favorite toy coming to life, holy crap how awesome would that be, right? Well Seth MacFarlane, creator/writer of Family Guy, has done such that and even […]

In the 2000 remake of Gone in 60 Seconds, starring Nicolas Cage, actor Giovanni Ribisi played Cage’s younger brother, who was in over his head after losing out on a big heist, while working for an evil gangster. His big brother, who retired from the life of crime, is forced to come back to the […]

Paramount Pictures brings the critically acclaimed film The Fighter starring Mark Wahlberg and Academy Award winning actors Christian Bale and Melissa Leo to Blu-ray. Funny enough, Christian Bale and Melissa Leo won the Oscar for their performances in The Fighter. Very cool! This is an advance review of The Fighter. It will be officially […]

Stop! Freeze right there! I want to play a game. No, not like Jigsaw does in the Saw movies, but I want to play good cop, bad cop. What? You want to be the bad cop too? How will that ever work out? Well if you are talking about the Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg action-comedy film […]

Sometimes it is not easy to come up with titles. I could have easily said, “The Fighter is a knockout,” but that would have been way too cliché. I mention this, because in The Fighter, Mark Wahlberg stars as a boxer who did not have an easy path to getting a chance at a title shot. So you see the titles…oh nevermind. My poor attempt at a humorous connection aside, this is a strong biopic that features some very good performances, particularly by Christian Bale. It is a movie that features boxing, but much of that aspect comes second to the more highlighted family dynamic, with two brothers coming to terms with who they are and what they can hope to achieve. While the film may be a bit unfocused in terms of its overall drive, I found the story to be handled in a very entertaining manner, which tends to happen when I watch boxing movies.

So here’s a film that really surprised me this summer. Who knew a PG-13 rated film could ever be so funny? I had no desire or fervor to even check this one out, but I was pleasantly surprised during my press screening of The Other Guys. What was I surprised about? Well quite frankly, I […]

1999 was a great year for movies! On one side of the spectrum you had garbage like Star Wars: Episode I and on the other side of the spectrum you had great films like Three Kings which were moderate budgeted made films that made a moderate return on their investment. Three Kings was also one […]

Here’s a genre mix – A fanciful comedy set in the world of a gritty buddy cop film. I say this because this movie never tries to make its world feel real, despite being filmed as if it were from the door steps of a Michael Mann cop drama. Instead, we have a film that […]

Commercials for The Lovely Bones are promoting the movie as a supernatural murder-mystery where a teenage girl who is killed helps her father solve the crime from the after life. It’s understandable why Paramount and DreamWorks SKG decided to market the movie, based on the 2002 novel of the same name by Alice Sebold, this […]

Most of my movie-loving friends have already seen Boogie Nights while I had not. Considering the film had as much popularity as it did and it’s well over a decade old now, it was high time I sat down for a watch of this flick. I heard fragments of the content here and there so […]

Every once in awhile a movie comes around that truly tests one’s faith. Spoken like a religious man who understands fate, huh? I can’t even imagine how I am going to react when my dog dies, whether lone how I would truly respond emotionally, mentally and physically should I ever, God forbid, lose a child. […]
