4K BLUsday returns on election day in the United States (Please get out and VOTE). A rather ho-hum release day in terms of both announcements from the past week as well as movie coming out today. Still there is plenty to be excited about. We are about to enter that weird late December through February period where the studios aren’t going overboard after their big holiday releases hangover. On the YouTube Channel I have our Full Metal Jacket contest winner as well as a new contest for a digital code of 2019’s The Addams Family animated film. Please note, that code is an iTunes exclusive and not redeemable through other digital services. Listen to the podcast, watch the video, more details below!

Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection is going to be one very unorthodox 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Review. You want to know why? I hope you do as I didn’t just set that up for nothing. It’s simply because this one whopping big box set that houses a total of 33 Discs (23 BD-100s, 7 BD-66s, 3 BD-50s). Wow! That encompasses all 8 seasons of the hit HBO show that plays across 73 episodes, which equates to roughly 75 hours. If that’s not enough, there’s also 15 hours of extras packed within this set. Now do you know why I say this isn’t your average 4K Disc review? I hope so. And rest assured I’m going to do my best to cover everything you’ll find here, but I’m only a mere mortal. You’ll have to forgive me as I’m not going to be able to go through all of this. Thankfully I have covered every Blu-ray release of the show so there’s that and I’ll be providing you pertinent URL links to all the coverage so you won’t miss a beat here. On top of it all you can also bank on my unboxing photos. I told you I have you covered! Continue reading ‘Game of Thrones: The Complete Collection (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)’

The sequel to Back To The Future is a rare one that for some even eclipses the original. There is a new story with a somewhat familiar premise, but overall has a different feel to the original. The stakes as always are higher, and the cliffhanger ending is one that made the film’s fans crazy for the next installment. If ever there was a reliable franchise, Back To The Future was it. Check out more in depth on Back to the Future Part IIbelow and be sure to click the (Paid) links below to get your copy of this incredible set!

Turning five years old this year, Damien Chazelle’s Whiplash has received a home video upgrade by moving to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray. The film was an Oscar darling, garnering five nominations in big categories. It landed J.K. Simmons a Best Supporting Actor win, which was basically his to lose the entire awards season. One of the most fun bits of trivia is that Whiplash is also a Blumhouse film. You could argue that J.K. Simmons IS quite scary in it if you wanted to. Sony will be giving this a 4K make-over and a new Dolby Atmos track for this release. Extras are the same as its the previous Blu-ray disc that’s included. The film will also come with a digital copy code. Sony released it on September 22nd, so its available to order now. You can use the paid Amazon Associates link at the bottom of this review to do so, if you’d like.

District 9 has been called a lot of things over the years. It has been said that the movie will blow your mind and that it is a must see movie. Harry Knowles of Aint It Cool News once went on record as saying he was mind f*#ked by the movie. Heck, when last checked today, the film still holds a 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. I remember my first viewing with it. I didn’t really care for it. However, I fell in love with it after only a second watch. It is gut wrenching to watch though. I’m a sucker for feeling terrible the way the aliens within are treated. So I am going to spend the next several paragraphs giving you a quick history lesson about District 9 and convincingly try to explain why your mileage may vary with this one. It’s not for everyone.

It should be no surprise to anyone that the dynamic duo, hilarious tag team of Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum reprised their respective roles from 2012 in the appropriately titled 22 Jump Street (I’ll expand upon that more down below). I last talked about 21 Jump Street in my Blu-ray review over HERE in 2012 and just recently again in my 4K review of it HERE. I’m happy to report that I still have not seen a single episode from the original television series, but I’ve studied enough pop culture and seen enough comedies to pick up on references here and there. I’m smart like that, but I’m probably still missing out on a few gags here or there. However, make no mistake. I wasn’t looking forward to this one very much going into it theatrically. Like the sequel to the original Hangover film I had my doubts and wondered if this second outing would simply be a cash grab with the same story, etc. set in a different locale. Even if it was, I’d probably laugh, but I want so much more in life. I deserve more. Hear me roar! So the question that really matters is did I get what I was looking for? Check out the full 22 Jump Street 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review below to find out! Continue reading ’22 Jump Street (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)’

Can you believe it? Even after seeing 21 Jump Street the film years ago I have still never seen the 80’s television show in my 37+ years of living on this land and water filled planet. I’m a virgin there! That’s horrible! I should be dragged down the streets by my long, ugly hair or publicly pelted and stoned in the middle of town square for admitting that, right? Maybe next year that will be a thing. Well whatever capital punishment you decide for me, rest assured I will do my very best to bring justice to this 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review of the 2012 action comedy of the same name. Ready or not, here I go… Continue reading ’21 Jump Street (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)’

300 was one of those films where I truly didn’t realize how amazing it was with only one viewing under my proverbial belt. Admittedly so it took a couple for me to declare it epic, but fast forward 13 years and here we are. One of the greatest historical fantasy films is making its 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray debut and not a moment too soon. 2020 has been one hell of a year and 300 on 4K disc may just be what the doctor ordered for some temporarily relief. I’ve been patiently waiting several years for this epic period action film to make a 4K appearance and that day has finally come this October 6th. Hear me roar as I guide you on this 4K adventure with 300 Spartans facing off against 300,000 invading soldiers. Hoorah! Continue reading ‘300 (4K UHD Blu-ray Review)’
