Comic-Con 2013: The Amazing Spider-Man 2

spidey 2 whysoblu banner-001This is a big jump to way towards the end of Friday’s activities in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con this year, but I figure Spider-man is popular enough to have more people curious about what went on here than other panels I was able to witness. Here is the official description of what was in store for audiences: The Amazing Spider-Man 2 — Last year, Andrew Garfield, along with director Marc Webb and producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach, launched a new chapter in the Peter Parker story with The Amazing Spider-Man. With a new installment in the franchise due in 2014, join us in Hall H for one of Comic-Con’s most highly anticipated panels to hear a bit about what awaits Peter Parker in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Having gotten to sit through the entire panel and take a first look at footage from this web-slinging sequel, I will have plenty to share in the rest of this post.

Comic-Con 2013: Holliston – Inside the Laughs, Screams, Metal, and Geekery!

Holliston TNThere’s absolutely no way I would ever miss seeing the man I look up to the most in the industry today, the hardest working man in Hollywood, creator/star Adam Green (Hatchet) of Fearnet’s Holliston TV series.  So much so that I actually made a special trip up to Sails Pavillion today at 11 AM to personally say hello before tonight’s Comic-Con 2013 panel in Room 24 ABC.  Cast members Laura Ortiz (Happy Endings) and Oderus Urungus (GWAR), director Sean Becker (The Guild) and fan-favorite moderator Alison Haislip (The Voice) were all in attendance tonight at the 8:30 PM panel.  Sadly, Dee Snyder could not make it due to a concert he was performing.  Boo!  But that’s okay!  It’s Holliston folks!  So much fun to be had despite the missing others!  In all honesty, with the exception of the sad goodbyes said to the cast of Dexter in Hall H tonight, Holliston was my favorite panel of the day at Thursday’s Comic-Con 2013.  Read all about it here! Comic-Con 2013: Pre-Order Only at Comic-Con – PREDATOR Blu-ray 3D Packaged in Limited Edition Predator Head

Predators-movie-image-210If there is an excuse to put up a post about Predator, I’ll be there.  At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Predator will be making a bit of s splash on the exhibit floor, as fans will be able to pre-order the 3D Blu-ray, which will also feature an option and all new experience.  For an extra cost, fans will be able to order this new Blu-ray and have their image used to make them the victim as a customized figurine is created using 3D Systems 3D printing technology that features the Predator alien holding the fans’ severed head.  That sounds a little insane and a little awesome, but that can also describe Comic Con in general.  Read on to learn more about this Blu-ray event.

Batman Documentary “Legends Of The Knight” Coming To SDCC

batmanHere is something that I am happy to spread more knowledge of, as I have been following this project for some time.  I know I am not wrong in saying that we at Why So Blu are big Batman fans and look forward to future adventures involving him, let alone rewatching and possibly even rediscovering things about the Caped Crusader that continue to entertain us.  Legends of the Knight is an upcoming documentary film that is focused on how Batman has been a hero for many people in real life.  Filmmaker Brett Culp has set out to make a film that goes over the cultural impact that Batman has had over the year and thanks to a successful Kickstarter campaign, the film will be released to the public.  Portions of the documentary film Legends of the Knight will debut at a SDCC panel on Friday, July 29 at 10:30am in room 26AB.  The independent, not-for-profit film explores the inspirational impact of Batman and the power of heroic storytelling.  Read on to learn more about this project/event.

Comic Con 2012: Starship Troopers: Invasion – Video Interview

Along with being able to attend the world premiere screening of Starship Troopers: Invasion at Comic Con, I was also very excited to have the opportunity to interview Johnny Rico himself, Casper Van Dien, along with executive producer and screenwriter for the original Starship Troopers, Ed Neumeier, director Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed, Halo Legends), and producer Joseph Chou.  It helps that I am a big fan of the original film and found a lot to like about this all-new CGI Animated feature, with its dynamic visual presentation, slick action sequences, and solid handling on expanding the Starship Troopers universe.  Coming at the end of a long week, this was a fun one-on-four interview, which was shot on video no less, so be prepared to hear me (offscreen) do my best to talk to these guys about this exciting new feature.  Continue on to watch this interview. Comic Con 2012: Starship Troopers: Invasion – Blu-Ray Release Date and Premiere Reactions

I am a big fan of the original Starship Troopers film, so I was excited for the idea of an all new release that has come in the form of a CG animated feature from the director of Appleseed and Halo Legends.  While at Comic Con, I got the chance to watch the world premiere screening of Starship Troopers: Invasion, which turned out to be a lot of fun.  While more of a straight-forward sci-fi/action film, it looked great, featured some really cool action sequences, and was really able to delve visually into the world of Starship Troopers.  I will have a video interview with the team behind the film posted soon as well, which includes the original Johnny Rico himself, Casper Van Dien.  For now, continue on to read some of my reactions to the film along with information about the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release of the film. It was indeed a giant block of presentations for Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures.  Taking up over two and a half hours in Hall H on Saturday at Comic Con, they had plenty of amazing things they were prepared to show audiences.  Following a look at what Legendary had to offer, it then became Warner Bros. turn to add all of their work into the mix, which included heavy hitters that many people camped out the previous night to see – Man of Steel and The Hobbit.  Along with one surprise that began this panel presentation, everything presented was very entertaining to see and featured a lot of exclusive looks that hopefully got people wanting to see a whole lot more.  Continue on to read more about what went down under Warner Bros. watch, during these presentations. Between the Marvel Studios panel and the presentation that Warner Brothers and Legendary Pictures had lined up for Hall H on Saturday at Comic Con, fans were in for all sorts of greatness to be shown to them, given that they were able to get into the very packed room.  All the waiting done by anyone that was able to get into Hall H certainly paid off for sure and first up was a look at two of Legendary Pictures upcoming films that, between them, feature colossal talent, robots, and monsters.  While the first film presented was something everyone knew about and were excited to get their first look at, Pacific Rim, the second film announced was a big surprise, as no one quite knew what they were watching until it was revealed to be Godzilla.  Continue on to learn more about this very exciting panel. Comic Con 2012: Django Unchained

Let’s get this out of the way now, Saturday at Comic Con was an exhausting time for anyone who wanted to get into Hall H.  This is of course the biggest hall for panels at the San Diego Convention Center and Saturday proved to be the day that anyone who wanted to get in would have needed to arrive at least 4-5 hours early, as I did.  It paid off however, as the first panel of the day was for Quentin Tarantino’s new movie, Django Unchained (The ‘D’ is silent).  I previously wrote a post about this upcoming film already, which can be found HERE, but I was thrilled to be able to see the cast and writer/director Quentin Tarantino, along with whatever footage they brought with them.  Continue on to learn a bit more about ‘Django‘s presence at Comic Con.
