Featured in IndieWire’s top 5 first features of 2013, and called “a cult classic in the making” (Salon), Escape From Tomorrow comes to DVD and Blu-Ray April 29 from Cinedigm. Unlike any film ever made, the most buzzed about debut at Sundance 2013 enraptured audiences with the fearless methods used by its writer/director Randy Moore, along with its compelling take on childhood fantasy gone awry. Secretly shot at two world-famous theme parks, Escape From Tomorrow uses covert techniques that take guerilla filming to another level, placing it amongst one of the most revolutionary films in history. Knights of Badassdom has all the makings of a fun cult comedy. I have heard of issues with this film in regards to behind-the-scenes tinkering, but my curiosity remains. I missed out on the limited release of this film, so the upcoming Blu-ray release will finally be my way into checking out this film revolving around a game of medieval role-playing, with a dark and fantastical twist. The fact that this cast includes True Blood‘s Ryan Kwanten, Game of Thrones‘ Peter Dinklage, Firefly‘s Summer Glau, Steve Zahn, and others suggests that it should at least be mildly entertaining. Regardless, myself and others will be able to find out on April 1st. Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.

In an early announcement to retailers today, Showtime Networks, CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Media Distribution have made known the June 10th Blu-ray and DVD release date for the first season of the powerful family drama Ray Donovan. For those of you that do not know, Ray Donovan (Live Schreiber) is the go-to guy who makes the problems of Los Angeles celebrities, superstar athletes and business moguls disappear. However, this drama truly unfolds and opens up when Ray’s father (Jon Voight) is unexpectedly released from prison, setting off a chain of events that shakes the Donovan family to its core. I have only seen the first half of the season before Showtime was yanked last summer for TWC customers, but from what I saw it had me wanting more and I can’t wait to finish this one up in June..on Blu-ray! Nope, this is no joke! As Brian scratches his head wondering where the heck Double Jeopardy is, Hulk Hogan’s launch to become a movie star in his own right, 7 years after Rocky III is coming to Blu-ray. I remember this movie and then again I don’t. I think this came out when I was actually in to WWF (what it was called at the time) and a fan of Hulk Hogan, but I’m not sure if I actually saw it. Its not a popular film as it has a 5% score on Rotten Tomatoes, but I’m not sure if that measures in accuracy for enjoying it with a different mentality. We’ll talk about this one more when we get there, but today I’ve got all the specs and pre-order information for you. You KNOW you want to pre-order this! Not sure how much I can say about Fargo, beyond just, “It’s brilliant”, but here it goes. Fargo was one of the best films of the 90s, one of my favorite films ever, and is full of great performances, direction, and dark humor. It is a fantastic film and now it is getting an all new Blu-ray release, ensuring that it will look better than ever. I often say that snow is my favorite thing to see on Blu-ray, as there is something about the quality that really stands out when it comes to looking at snow in 1080p. Now I will have the chance to see the snow, along with all of the other great things this film has to offer, in a new light, with Carter Burwell’s great score backing it up, let alone all the weirdness that comes from Steve Buscemi and Peter Stormare teaming up to be a part of a very odd kidnapping story. This new addition of the film arrives on Blu-ray April 1st. Read on to learn more about this upcoming release.

May is gonna be a “killer” month for Scream Factory. It kicks off the SUMMER OF FEAR which has them loading up each month with some spectacular releases and some that have come as a giant surprise to the delight of fans. During may they’ll be release cult favorites Evilspeak and Final Exam. Final Exam is one of the classic slasher films of the early run in the 80s that gets dogged, but I actually like it quite a bit. So, I’m in the camp that enjoys it more than most. So I am absolutely shocked and astonished its coming to Blu-ray as I thought its final resting place for physical home media would be DVD (which it BARELY jumped to that format). So, yeah, its incredibly exciting no matter what the bonus features are, that these two films will be coming to the amazing Blu-ray format with some brand new transfers. Below is the final details on each disc as well as the wonderful pre-order buttons! Do it, c’mon, you know you want to! Continue reading ‘Final Details On EVILSPEAK & FINAL EXAM Blu-rays Unveiled!’

Brazilian Western is the actual title of this film in case you’re wondering right of the bat “What western film from Brazil did they acquire?” I really can’t enlighten much on this film sadly, as this is the first I’ve heard of it. But with this news today, its definitely on my radar now to check out when it comes to (hopefully) glorious Blu-ray. It played the famed Toronto International Film Festival last year and is slated to hit up the Miami International Film Festival this coming weekend. Shout! Factory has provided me with this announcement to kind of open up about it, but more details will be trickling down the pipeline as they begin production on its home release for sure. And you can find those details, pre-order and maybe even a review here at your trusted Why So Blu? entertainment website. The entertainment site that doesn’t feature default artwork for its design! It’s back! So last year an announcement was made for a horror-themed movie marathon, the “Lethal Ladies of Horror,” featuring a specific set of films being screened at the Regency Village Theater in Los Angeles, with all kinds of cool giveaways, props from the films, and Q&As with cast and crew. Unfortunately, the event was cancelled. Good news has recently emerged though! The marathon is back and it has dropped off the weakest film in the original lineup in favor of adding an even better film to make a strong set of films to screen. On March 29th, at the Famed Crest Theatre Westwood in Lost Angeles, the new “Lethal Ladies of Horror” will be screening Night of the Comet, Christine, and Drag Me to Hell. This event is being brought to audiences by the same folks involved in putting together the “Evil Dead Fest” last year, which screened all four Evil Dead films and was a ton of fun. This means the films will have a lot of additional fun going on in between movies and within the theater lobby as well, which includes Q&As with cast and crew from the films, prize giveaways, props from the film (such as a very specific car) and more! Additionally, I have an interview from the stars of Night of the Comet, Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney, (HERE) originally done last year in honor of the recent Scream Factory Blu-ray release. Stewart and Maroney will be among the guests in attendance for a Q&A on the night. Continue on to learn more about this exciting, upcoming event.
