I make it no secret in life that one of my favorite young actresses in Hollywood is Chloe Grace Moretz so it should also come with no surprise that I’m looking forward to her performance in the remake of Carrie, especially since I missed it in theaters earlier this fall. I have heard a bunch of mixed things regarding the movie from fellow reviewers, but I guess I will be the judge of that finally when it comes to Blu-ray on January 14th and Digital Download on January 3rd. Here’s one of those titles where I was just so busy in life at the time that I was regrettably not able to check out theatrically despite wanting to over the many positive reviews out there. I do pride myself in the fact that I own the soundtrack, which in my opinion is pretty killer for a live concert. So it looks like I am in luck! While I can’t find any pre-order information online, I do have the below press release in my possession which states there will be multiple versions released of Through The Never on the magical day of January 28th…just in time for the Super Bowl, huh? Days 1 and 2 of the Austin Comic Con are in the books and it was the usual fun and sensorary overload to be found on the exhibitors floor. Actors such as R.I.P.D.‘s James Hong and The Walking Dead‘s Laurie Holden were found strolling about. Fans could be found adorned in the threads of their favorite superhero or steam punk attire. And then there is the merchandise. Yes, sensory overload indeed, but amidst all the artwork and collectibles stood a writer and his book.

He must be doing cartwheels right now as it has just been announced that this explosive sequel that breaks all the rules is hitting the Blu-ray and DVD formats on January 21st with an early drop date of January 7th on Digital HD. We are now moving on from Disney villains yesterday to biblical epics today, as the trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s Noah makes its debut. As a follow up to Black Swan, Aronofsky has moved on to something very different for him, as he tackles the story of Noah and his Ark. The film features Russell Crowe as Noah and also stars Jennifer Connelly, Emma Watson, and Anthony Hopkins. This post features both the domestic trailer, which is only currently available via Apple and the international trailer, along with the film’s poster. From what is shown in these trailers, the scale of the film is certainly the main highlight being marketed, but without revealing anything, I can just say that a key element is being left out, which I found to be one of the more interesting concepts to go along with this film, as it is both a very new thing for Aronofsky, but something totally fitting of his style. If you don’t go, Billy will PUNISH you! The great Justin Beahm is teaming with Screenvision and Fangoria to return the controversial holiday classic Silent Night, Deadly Night to theaters. Its got an all new amazing HD transfer too! It opens December 4th to what I’m sure will amount to ZERO protesting as opposed to the first time around! Can we also take a moment to marvel at this really awesome new poster design? I remember the original poster of the Santa’s arm with an axe going down a chimney being iconic, but this thing takes the movie to an incredibly new area of dread. If you’re a fan of the film its an extra awesome little easter egg. I hope this rerelease is a sign that a Blu-ray is definitely in the works. I love when my 80’s slashers come to do high definition and this is a big one that is missing. Also, if this does well, maybe we can celebrate “Garbage Day” next year! I have been posting a lot of superhero trailers lately, so this is a nice change in pace. Next summer sees the release of Maleficent, a live-action take on the Sleeping Beauty story, with more of a focus on its iconic villain, Maleficent, now played by Angelina Jolie. In this post is the first official teaser trailer for the film, along with some new images and poster. It certainly has the same sort of vibe as seen in other recent Disney live-action spectacles such as Oz the Great and Powerful and Alice in Wonderland, but I will be curious if this film goes for a darker tone and explores that sort of territory. The Blu-ray and DVD, which is available December 10th, includes bonus materials such as Feature Commentary with Director/Actor Keanu Reeves and Tiger Chen, and The Making of Man of Tai Chi.
