SDCC 2017: Justice League

Comic-Con 2017Jason Momoa came crashing down from the back of Hall H down the aisles, high-fiving fans along the way. People went absolutely crazy for this. When he finally got on stage, moderator Chris Hardwick said, “makes sense that you’re Aquaman, because everyone is super wet right now.” It was a funny and exciting way to begin a really great Justice League panel.

SDCC 2017: Blade Runner 2049

Comic-Con 2017The Hall H 180 screens continued today with Blade Runner 2049. After a run down of what happened with Deckard and what has happened to society since 2019 (I won’t spoil it), Jared Leto came onstage and began discussing the future and what Blade Runner means to him. After he was done, he disappeared, revealing that we had been watching a hologram the entire time. Pretty amazing.

SDCC 2017: Ready Player One

Comic-Con 2017You’ll need to watch this trailer a couple times to notice every detail. Chris Hardwick was on hand to introduce the Warner Bros. panel, beginning with Ready Player One. Prior to bringing Spielberg out on stage, there was a montage of Warner Bros. films from the past ten years, obviously ending with a huge emphasis on Wonder Woman, which received a standing ovation from the crowd. Wonder Woman is quickly becoming the new face of DC and Warner Bros. I would bet good money that they include her in every poster collage, video clip, books, etc for years to come.

Justice League banner shows some color, but someone is still missing…

Just ahead of the Justice League panel, Warner Bros. released a new poster for the film, and it is pretty amazing. Like most of you, I haven’t enjoyed the dull color palette of the DCCU films (with exception of Wonder Woman). This is making a statement, and it’s about to be shoved in all our faces. Forget the bleakness of old, and get ready for some optimism.

SDCC 2017: Star Trek Discovery Pop-up Exhibit!

Comic-Con 2017

The Star Trek Discovery Pop Up Display at San Diego Comicon was a major highlight of a long day of waiting in line and trying to navigate through the massive crowds. While it exciting to see all these costumes there are definitely some questions being raised while gliding through the exhibit. To balance the eyebrow raising costumes there were many tried and true, classic, props that give hope to a series that could be exactly what we are all waiting for. If anything, at least Harry Mudd will appear, looking great as ever.

SDCC 2017: Kingsman The Golden Circle

Comic-Con 2017An Archer-Kingsman crossover was something that never really crossed my mind, but it makes perfect sense, especially after seeing it in action. The opening clip began with Eggsy running on rooftops and leaping from building to building, only it was in animated form. Very similar to the style of Archer. Eggsy finally arrives at Kingsman, but when he enters, he finds Archer in the dressing room, surrounded by weapons he “found” behind the hooks. After some Archer-esque banter, Eggsy suggests they deal with this escalating situation by determining who can drink the most alcohol. Before Eggsy can have an opportunity to pour, Archer has been to consume the bourbon straight from the bottle, and within a matter of seconds, it’s all gone, sending Archer to the floor.
