Pandemic and a load of delays may have knocked off a potential adult IP franchise too quickly in that of Kenneth Branagh’s take on Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. Murder On The Orient Express proved to be a solid success back in 2017. Unfortunately its sequel, Death on the Nile, would be pushed back and a few of its cast members would be surrounded in controversies in the time it lay wait. When it finally set sail in February 0f 2022, its voyage was that of the damned. Hopefully, with its recent release to streaming and this 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray (Hitting shelves April 5th), it’ll find a strong audience and perhaps we could see a third novel adapted/updated. Maybe its just for streaming, maybe the theater gets another shot. It’d be a shame as these films have been easily digestible fun. Anywho, pre-order yourself a copy today if you’re interested. There’s a paid Amazon Associates link that you’ll find scrolling on down after the review.

When it comes to new home video formats, few films and film series are as hotly anticipated to make their debut as The Godfather Trilogy. Holding off until its 50th anniversary, these brand new restorations of Francis Ford Coppola’s cinematic epic will be arriving on March 22nd. Coming to you in a fancy bells and whistles limited edition set as well as a standard one (Which honestly is in a pretty nice package), the films have been meticulously restored for 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray. They contain bonus materials, both new and old. You’ll also find three different cuts of 1990’s The Godfather, Part III, including the 1991 cut and 2020’s The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone, which serves as the preferred version of the film according to this set. Pre-orders are already currently up and available, and you can make sure to get yourself a copy by using the paid Amazon Associates link that follows the review.

One of the biggest gaps in cult movie collecting over the years, and especially in the realm of 1980s sword and sorcery schlock is the aptly titled 1982 film The Sword and the Sorcerer. That’s getting taken care of now by none other than the folks over at Shout! Factory. And care indeed. In time for its 40th anniversary, the film is not only getting a Blu-ray release, but a 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray one to boot! Piling on is a load of brand new interviews from those like Albert Pyun, Kathleen Beller and many others. Its a heck of a release for those who have been hungering for this pre-Conan fantasy flick to have an updated release. You’ll be able to land it on March 15th. You can do so by going to Shout! Factory’s store on their website or by using the paid Amazon Associates link that follows this very review.

Nominated for four Academy Awards this year, Guillermo del Toro’s remake of the 1947’s Nightmare Alley will be coming to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray on March 22nd. Currently playing on Hulu and HBO Max, the film was released over the Christmas holiday season last year to much acclaim abut little in the dollars. However, its been great seeing the distributors still getting these films out there and seen. And even better, still giving us the physical media option as well. Nightmare Alley will come equipped with a Dolby Atmos track as well as three little featurettes to go along with a digital code. You can see for yourself why del Toro is one of the best we have when you order it for yourself. You can do so using the paid Amazon Associates link following the review below.

At some point, in our IP driven entertainment society, it was going to be The Matrix’s turn to be resurrected for the sake of being resurrection. Thankfully, it was resuscitated from the breath of the maker. Arriving day and date in theaters and HBO Max, The Matrix Resurrections was unleashed with plenty of people having plenty of opinions on it. Truly divisive, it brought some interesting conversations regarding it. At the end of the day, that’s better than boring and safe, even if some of my best colleagues/friends and I are on polar opposite ends of the spectrum on it. Warner Bros brought it to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray on March 8, complete with an Atmos track and a handful of featurettes featuring interviews with the cast and crew of the film. Where’d you side with the film? Are you going to be picking this up or are you #NotMyMatrix? If you’re of the former, you can use the paid Amazon Associates link that follows the review to land your copy if you’d be so kind.

While not making the box office dent one may have hoped for, Steven Spielberg’s new adaptation of the stage play for West Side Story still released to critical raves and has been nominated for 7 Academy Awards. Most importantly, it won the heart of this reviewer, as I was over the moon for this movie from the first shot. This is easily my favorite of his efforts since Munich. I’ve used the word “magical” to describe it and I don’t feel that it is an exaggeration. While its currently streaming on Disney+ and HBO Max, its even more exciting that it is coming to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray on March 15th. Included with the best picture quality available and a Dolby Atmos track is a feature length documentary, the ability to watch the song numbers standalone and a redeemable digital code for the film. Get your preorder in to own a copy of Steven Spielberg’s take on West Side Story using the paid Amazon Associates link that follows the review.

It feels like it too forever for Matthews Vaughn’s prequel to his successful Kingsman series, The King’s Man, to finally release. I remember seeing the trailer for it and 1917 back to back a lot in the winter of 2019. Low and behold it wouldn’t arrive until 2 years later in cause of the pandemic. And while I tired of seeing the trailer at pretty much every film I attended in 2021, there was still a desire to see the film. Unfortunately, with the load of quality material coming out in the Christmas holiday window, it was a low priority. But now, in the enjoyment of my own home, I’ve seen it on this 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray which is now available (Release date: February 22nd) and comes with Dolby Atmos sound and a feature length making of documentary. You can order the film now using the paid Amazon Associates link that follows the review.

For Jazz enthusiasts and those in the music industry, the name Bob James rings true with that of an accomplished musician and composer. For the unfamiliar, it likely sounds as the most common of names. Rest assured that his accomplishments and skill are not of the common variety though. The 4k UHD Blu-ray release, Feel Like Making LIVE! Bob James Trio, both recaps his background and highlights his band’s talent, with a certain emphasis on the latter. Let’s delve into the DNA of this ultra high definition disc and breakdown the anatomy of its delivery.

The MCU has spent 2021 back in full swing, releasing four films…well…considering end credits scenes, do we count Venom: Let There Be Carnage as five? One of the more anticipated and mysterious films of the bunch was Eternals. The film promised a more complete filmmaker vision from that of Academy Award winner Chloe Zhao to go along with a bunch of character that, lets be honest, nobody really knew who they are. The film didn’t grab your typical Marvel fare by garnering mixed reviews and underwhelming box office. Nonetheless, being different will certainly do that to some films and it appears Marvel is no exception. Its already been on Disney+, but you’ll be able to add it to your home video collection when it arrives on February 15th (Sorry Valentine’s Day gifts). You can order the film by using the paid Amazon Associates link below.

Celebrating 30 years in 2022 is the directorial debut of Ernest R. Dickerson, Juice. The film also gave us the break outs of Tupac Shakur and Omar Epps while boasting a killer soundtrack and gut punching coming of age story that found itself among a pack of films covering similar territory in the early 90s. Paramount is celebrating this milestone with the 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray debut of the film. Released on January 11, this new release carries over everything from the 25th anniversary and displays the film’s 4K transfer proper. No Blu-ray disc comes with it but a redeemable digital code is included. You can order yourself a copy of Juice – 30th Anniversary Edition by using the paid Amazon Associates link that follows the review.

Pandemic and simultaneous with streaming platform (Peacock) release be damned, Michael Myers still proved to be a killer shark at the box office this past fall. Despite a vocal minority seemingly perplexed by the film, it still waged on and almost made $100 million domestically at the box office, proving to be the second highest grossing film in the 12 entries and counting, 44 year old slasher series. It has arrived on 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray, released on January 11th, with an extended cut of the film that features an alternate ending. Unlike its predecessor, there are a lot more featurettes and the like on this disc. Also setting it apart, it has a Dolby Atmos track to fill out your room and ceiling. You can order yourself a copy of this divisive Michael Myers terrorizes Haddonfield Halloween movie by using the paid Amazon Associates link following the review.

Cleaning house with Why So Blu’s 2021 Top Ten lists, Dune might just be the one film we all strongly agreed on here at the site. And we are not alone in our love for one of the most impressive spectacles of the theater-going experience in the last year. Spoiling my review ahead, it absolutely winds up translating here to 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray which is another bit of Denis Villeneuve’s impressive talents, whether it be his preference to how people view the film or not (Which, I argue most of these “MUST BE SEEN IN THE THEATER TYPES” strictly are meaning for your first time and if that’s the best available offering). You can now own the film on the current best way to view it, 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray, having released on January 11th. It comes with a quaking Atmos tracks and some solid extras to fill out the experience. If you so please and haven’t done so yet, you can order Dune using the paid Amazon Associates link following the review.

No Time To Die marks the end of an era…at least for Daniel Craig as James Bond. I’m bittersweet about it because while I know the titular character of 007 James Bond will live on again actor Daniel Craig was my most favorite Bond. I have mad respect for the 007 lore and fandom, but I’ll admit to not being the biggest James Bond fan. 2006’s Casino Royale changed all of that for me. And while the Daniel Craig films have been hit or miss I’m still very sad to call this an end of an era. Anyone that has interest can see how I ranked and scored the rest of the Daniel Craig 007 Bond collection of films in my 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray review of the set HERE. However, for now and the rest of the review, let’s be concise and focus our proverbial spotlight on the December 21st Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD Disc release of 007’s No Time To Die. The Wolf of Wall Street for me needs no introduction. It’s Goodfellas with Leo in it to me. It’s also responsible for Harley Quinn in my life. Well let me rephrase that. Wolf of Wall Street introduced me to the woman who would later go on to embody my beloved Harley Quinn, Margot Robbie. It’s also a fantastic movie to boot! I thought long and hard if I wanted to write my own review or pay homage to the original one written by Kori Kemerer in the previous Blu-ray review (HERE). I opted for the latter. I did so not to be altruistic lazy, but instead I felt Kori hit all the highlights of why I love this film. She’s responsible for me liking it as she attended the original press screening in my place as I was occupied with other work. She raved about it afterwards and took me to see it on Christmas Day that year. So I owe her much respect for her previous efforts in regards to this feature. Therefore, the below film review is all Kori, but like her I too give Wolf of Wall Street a resounding 5 out of 5 doggies. Let’s begin! Upon hearing the announcement of The Criterion Collection’s first set of 4K UHD Blu-ray releases, I was excited by all that was being offered (Citizen Kane! Menace II Society II), but I was most interested in seeing The Red Shoes in 4K. Looking at the list of archival releases put out in 4K in this year alone, I had little doubt that Criterion’s 4K presentation of the classic Powell and Pressburger drama would be the technicolor feast I had hoped for. I was not wrong. Without putting down the other recent 4K releases from Criterion (the ones I’ve seen are pretty great), The Red Shoes looks stunning. It also happens to be a spectacular feature, with sequences representing some of the best that cinema offers.
